The fact that Oberyn poisoned his spear indicated to me that he never meant to kill The Mountain during the battle and wanted him to suffer miserably from the Manticore poison, which was his fatal mistake!!!

The fact that Oberyn poisoned his spear indicated to me that he never meant to kill The Mountain during the battle and wanted him to suffer miserably from the Manticore poison, which was his fatal mistake!!!

The Martells are famous for poisoning their blades, though. I honestly think he did it as a safeguard. I think he wanted to kill the Mountain and Tywin Lannister that day.

Letting his emotions interfere with his ability to reason was his fatal mistake.

Damn good fighter though. The first scene with him in season 4, when he stabs the Lannister relative with his dagger, was pretty fucking badass.
