Contemplating looking at a job up there and wondering what the vibe is. I've literally never heard of this place.

it’s a city of 130,000 in a region of 600,000. 100 km southwest of Toronto. The cities of Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge make up a continuous urban area. Waterloo is the upper class city of the three, originally very WASPY, it is now more diverse. The area is an academic and technological centre. It boasts two universities (one very respected), a college, companies like research in motion and institutions like the Perimeter research centre. Kitchener is the working class, blue collar city and Cambridge is a mixture of blue collar and commuters. crime in Waterloo itself is very low. The countryside is beautiful farmland with amazing sweet corn and lots of Mennonites driving their horse and buggies. The region hosts the largest Octoberfest outside of Germany and the largest in the world. The city is very clean and the region offers a wide variety of services. The climate is typical of southern Ontario, cold winters and hot, humid summers. What more would you like to know?

At Waterloo, Napoleon did surrender.

That I know, but that's all I got for you, I'm afraid. Drop that in the interview at some point, and they'll be impressed because they'll assume that you've studied up on the place. So you got that going for you, at least.

Can you tell me a bit more about the weather? How cold for how long?
He can’t

he’s from the west coast

the winters are equivalent to cities like Chicago and Detroit. It’s 2.5 hours North and East of Detroit.

Thanks. Very useful. How easy is it to get to Toronto, or the 6 as your national treasure calls it?

Also, how expensive is it to live there as compared to the major cities?

It’s easy to get to Toronto via roads, or the GO transit network involving trains and buses.

it’s cheaper than Toronto but all of southern Ontario is very expensive right now, real estate went up 30 percent during covid and Canada is having a tough time with inflation right now.

kneeblock @kneeblock Waterloo does have a very strong and competitive rental market however, as there are 40,000 students that need lodgings.

How is public transit there and in Ontario in general. I don't drive.

Also, you wish there was inflation.
