I'm renoing the basement. I really want to to do a "drop ceiling" but with cedar shiplap. My worry is the warping over time. How can I create a cool cedar ceiling that I can get to my hose shut off valves but not have issues?

Then they'd be in the wall
I'm guessing there in the ceiling?
Can't you bring them down and surface mount them?
In the past I have brought them down within the wall and created an access door hatch.

I could put them in the wall but one would be where I plan to install cabinets. There's 2 water shut offs, one goes to a hose in the front of the house, another goes to a hose in the back. I have to turn them off each winter, I already had one burst and that one has another 25 foot run under a crawl space. It was a nightmare fixing it

Access panels are the shit if you're a DIY'er. I've stopped patching drywall and started just slapping in access hatches when I have to fix plumbing or electrical junctions. When I renovate the upstairs bathrooms, I'm going to install access panels for damn near everything. Putting junctions behind drywall is absolutely retarded.
