I'm renoing the basement. I really want to to do a "drop ceiling" but with cedar shiplap. My worry is the warping over time. How can I create a cool cedar ceiling that I can get to my hose shut off valves but not have issues?

I'm guessing there in the ceiling? Then they'd be in the wall
I could put them in the wall but one would be where I plan to install cabinets. There's 2 water shut offs, one goes to a hose in the front of the house, another goes to a hose in the back. I have to turn them off each winter, I already had one burst and that one has another 25 foot run under a crawl space. It was a nightmare fixing itI'm guessing there in the ceiling?
Can't you bring them down and surface mount them?
In the past I have brought them down within the wall and created an access door hatch.
Yeah, get an access hatch. Make it pro & pretty, lables like a REAL nigga.I could put them in the wall but one would be where I plan to install cabinets. Access panels are the shit if you're a DIY'er. I've stopped patching drywall and started just slapping in access hatches when I have to fix plumbing or electrical junctions. When I renovate the upstairs bathrooms, I'm going to install access panels for damn near everything. Putting junctions behind drywall is absolutely retarded.Yeah, get an access hatch. They're like $20.
And you can put it in the house description when you sell next month.

I'd have to get different cabinets than I planned but that may be an optionBack of cabinets, dummy door
