For those that don't know, this is a Black Widow.
One of the few poisonous spiders in the midwest. The other I know of is the brown recluse.

Pretty rare to spot them - but here lately we've been finding more and more of them. We spotted 3 during this weekend's camping trip.
It's to the point that I'm giving anything I pick up a good shake to make sure a Widow doesn't ruin my weekend.

greatest place for a kid, IMO
My son has been going for 6 years. My niece is a junior in college and on staff; she started as a camper in 2nd grade, and my nephew started in 1st grade.
just a beautiful place with great counselors and an incredible environment. I wish I could have gone growing up, I might be a better person lol

Damn I thought that was just a thing in movies
No phones for campers, they're gone 7-10 days. Only electricity are the lights in dining hall and bathroom, cabins have zero
You're up and outdoors all day, from the lake to archery to high rope and more. Nights there is a fire and songs.
It's awesome and very affordable. Kids come from all over

Those Falls are fed by Clear Lake
The water comes from underwater springs and has been filtering thru lava flows for 20 years, some of the cleanest water on the planet.
Very very cold. Amazing blue clear water. Some trees are still standing and are 3,000 years old and frozen in time from when a lava flow created the lake. The trees don't decompose because it is too cold, I didn't get good pictures of those.

Can rent a boat or bring your own. Camping and cabins are available. 5 mile hike around the lake.

I went to what I think was an old ymca camp in the redwoods. I went through DeMolay (masonic youth group).
It was pretty similar to what you described. Activity all day and night. No electricity except dining and an office area. It was a "leadership camp" so lots of team building and problem solving stuff in addition to canoes and swimming and stuff.

It was at that camp a kid from the bay area gave me a copy of Metallicas demo tape. About a year before Kill Em All came out.
