Carlito announced his contract expires in 2 weeks and will not be renewed. TKO has no humor.

I'll admit, R-Truth's release ruins wrestling for me. I hope it's some kind of work.
I enjoy R-Truth, especially the last year or so, and I don't like anyone losing their jobs. But he was comic relief. As much as I enjoy the comedy when it's there, it's not what I watch wrestling for.

R-Truth didn't do much, but what he did do was golden.

Considering how storylines are stagnating this year, I'm not sure this is a good move, but I'm biased because R-Truth is a fuckin' national treasure!

Hopefully this is just a "end of his performer" contract and they hook him up with something else in the org. Too good a guy just to go off into the sunset. Wrestling needs more R-Truths, not fewer.

But WWE's going deep into building their "feeder system" (NIL, NXT, Evolve, ID, AAA, LFG) means there are a lot of talent under their watch, and if the old guard doesn't move on, all those in their superfluous feeder systems got nowhere to go. And so you got people finally hitting the big time in WWE in the mid to late 30's instead of sooner. Shit Penta is fuckin' 40 already.

So R-Truth (53) and Carlito (46) end up on the chopping block.

Wrestlers lack charisma anymore. R-Truth stood out as a breath of fresh air in a hyper-scripted environment. I'm still upset they let Santino go too.

Did Cody Rhodes move anybody's needle here? Where else can a storyline go after he "finished the story?" I kinda see where Cena is going with the ruining wrestling angle. Once he's gone, there are no stars left.

Yeah. I do find it hard to believe that , after giving him a high profile match, on a highly rated SNME, producing a parody/homage t-shirt, WWE just dismissed him so cold blooded. Truth seemed well liked, and even at his age still very athletic. I would think they would give him a "legends" contract ala X-Pac, Ron Simmons, Kurt Angle et al. Truth is a very smart guy, with a quick wit and comedic timing, he probably would be an asset to the writers. I almost feel Triple H owes the fans an explanation for Truth's dismissal. Oh well.

Sounds like they owe the lockerroom a bigger explanation than just the fans. I've never seen an outpouring of tributes like this before. Talent is not only reportedly not happy backstage and we're hearing about it in the dirtsheets, they are visibly not happy in their socials over this.

Santino was the absolute drizzling shits. I liked Truth but saying he had a lot of charisma is certainly a choice. People today seem I be forgetting that there was about 15 years between Little Jimmy and "My childhood hero John Cena" where no one gave a flying fuck about seeing R-Truth.

That of course is all assuming this is even true.

I don't mean to say they had it, but R-Truth and Santino's type of comic relief end up being the only thing worth watching to me because the wrestlers are so damn stiff.

Was Truth actually released? Or is his contract just up soon and they're not renewing it? Because that's what's going on with Carlito - his contract is apparently up pretty quickly and they're not renewing it. He just won a Puerto Rico title in some indy fed, so that might be why they let him go do that - they're just not gonna use him anymore.

A couple of the things I saw said Truth's contract wasn't gonna be renewed. So perhaps it's also up soon and they're just not renewing it vs they actually releasing him from his current contract.

And the stuff he's done lately has been a way of giving him one last showing & payday before they let him go.

Not saying that's "good" or whatever. I still think letting him go is nuts.

But it *is* different than having him in this high profile match / angle, then turning right around and giving him the boot a couple days later.

Miz has also unfollowed WWE and removed all mention of them from his X and social accounts. Hearing Gunther may have as well.

Tommy Dreamer already telling R-Truth to hit him up, so he won't be out of work long if he doesn't want to be.

And yeah, seeing rumors there is a backstage silent protest going on over this. People ain't happy. Even RoadDog had to delete a tweet that WWE apparently didn't like, and all he did was call out the beancounters.

If he cost too much I don't know why you just don't renegotiate a limited use contract or something. But straight release out of left field with no planned send-off? Disgrazia!

Like I always say, when it comes to business, "If you want loyalty, buy a dog." You won't ever get it from an employer, even though they'll demand it from you.

The messed up thing is WWE seemingly got loyalty from Truth, and this is how it was treated.

The Road Dogg thing is interesting - there is apparently some speculation his tweet at the "bean counters" was an effort to point outrage at TKO rather than Triple H or Nick Kahn. Because let's be honest - if either of them really wanted to keep Truth, they would have.

I mean, I'm sure she's not getting paid as much, but Truth gets let go, yet Rock's useless daughter in NXT still has a job, so...

Sure, Truth got paid (likely pretty well) for a long time for taking almost no bumps, so good on him for that. But he was also a guy that was apparently willing to do anything he was asked, too. Not the first guy that was willing to do anything he could to be a "company man", yet got canned, anyway. Goes to show you really do have to always watch out for #1 above all else.

re Gunther - I saw a thing that he deleted his Twitter history dating back to 2022 before Truth announced his contract wasn't being renewed. Some are speculating this is gonna tie into / lead to a change in his gimmick.

I am legit hoping that the RAW crowd just ruins tonight's show with "Thank You R-Truth", "What's Up?" and "TKO Sucks" chants.

If Truth can have his contract not renewed, Miz should watch his back.

Love him or hate him, Miz has been a "company man" his WWE career. And WWE is showing that doesn't necessarily matter, anymore.

Yeah, people are saying it was ultimately HHH's decision on who gets let go, but was he given a mandate to cut X amount of money by the bean-counters, and had to make tough decisions based on existing plans for how to use talent? Or what?

The crazy thing is that between people getting released while injured, this, etc, there have been a *lot* of people let go by WWE that would have faired better (or at least, not let go when & how they were) under Vince than they were under Triple H & Nick Kahn.

Some are saying he's gonna be gone anyways since he's gonna go host American Gladiators. /shrug
