DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. —
A man in Dorchester County, South Carolina, is facing multiple charges after police say he stole a vehicle and killed a dozen geese.

On Tuesday, the Dorchester County Sheriff’s deputies were alerted by the Summerville Police Department about a stolen vehicle out of Berkeley County.

Deputies found the vehicle driving on Ladson Road and tried to make a traffic stop.

The driver, later identified as Robert Bennie Jackson Jr., 39, fled from deputies. During the chase, Jackson hit and killed 12 geese, deputies say.

Following a brief chase, Jackson got out of the stolen vehicle without stopping it, causing it to crash into a neighborhood fence.

He then tried to run away and climb over the fence.

Deputies quickly arrested and took him into custody.

Jackson has been charged with the following

  • Failure to stop for blue lights
  • 12 counts of killing of waterfowl out of season
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jackson remains in custody at the L.C. Knight Detention Center.
