I love Fedor to death and, as all of you know, I have defended his legacy time and again but I think he is going to get KTFO. He no longer has the strength to deal with someone like Meathead and he gets caught all the time by big shots now. I am not a fan of taking all of these greats out of retirement so they can wobble around and get brain damaged since NO ONE in mma can seem to foster a star anymore outside of the "shit-talking" star format that the UFC has pulled off 3 times now (Chael, Ronda & Conor) over the course of 6.5 years.

That was the hardest fight I've ever had to watch, I was getting physically ill.
I got up to walk out and came back and kept one foot in the room and one eye on the screen.
Skill aside, this was the fight you got to see the full extent of the fight that is in the man's heart.
I don't know what MMA history would even look like without him; certainly less appealing.
That being the case, I think he loses vs. Mitrione. His fight IQ is gone, which was one of his biggest assets; his ability to seamlessly blend Sambo, Striking, cutting off the ring, etc. His heart has never been in question, but I believe the game has passed him by, and he doesn't have the power to one-shot these younger guys. He'll always be my favorite.

Lol @ gassing after a minute and 20 seconds. He got caught because of poor technique.
That being said, there is no logical explanation as to why that fight wasn't scored a draw. I'm ok with giving Fedor rounds 2 and 3, but round 1 was a 10-8 by even the most conservative standards.
A 10-7 actually wouldn't have been a bad score.

i recall rounds 2 and 3 being less exciting that that. i think the music makes it seem more exciting and it looks like they sped up alot of the punches and what not. makes them seem fresher than they were. if u watch the clock, i think ull agree. i could be mistaken tho

I call it a draw for sure. But as we see every single event in UFC?Bellabro?etc...judges are corrupt, incompetent, and just plain undedicated on what is going on and even how to do their own jobs.
Read, that Fedor only wanted to box because he wanted to beat Fabio at his best skill. Same thing he always did, fight to the Opps strength. I think those days are done...time to mix and match on him Fehodor...then your still explosive movement can be more effective.

I would have stopped it, he was really rocked/out on his feet for a good 30 seconds and then he was a zombie off and on for 3 minutes

Fedor vs Heath Herring really lured me back into being an MMA fan...UFC got stale and underground and interest was lost temporarily...then you see the crazy shit in Pride and you are like WTF?

Do you think the shit talking comes from a lack of martial arts (Ronda the exception) growing up for these guys? Chael/Brock were wrestlers who learned MMA, not the humbling techniques of a traditional martial art. I don't know if Conor was into before the started MMA but I don't recall ever hearing that he was into karate. They just train MMA which imo isn't about putting peace over war

I think the lack of shit talking in MMA comes from martial arts training, but I think the presence of shit talking nowadays is just a marketing tool that the UFC employed out of a lack of creativity. Tito was a natural shit talker and since he was so popular they figured they could use that for other people because the Fertittas and Dana felt that was the only thing people wanted. So they fostered it and then two guys and a chick were really good at it and they became stars.
I think it was a lot of bias confirmation seeking on Dana/Lorenzo/Frank's part because 3 of their other biggest stars (Chuck, Anderson & Randy) were the complete opposite and even Brock is not much of a shit talker. He is more of a natural asshole with that heel angle from pro wrasslin.
