Why would this be needed? I've never been into gaming on a PC but of this is something that's common I'll stick with my Xbox.
For nerds like me, there's a theoretical advantage of your furnace computer running a few degrees cooler than if it were cooled with regular case fans. But you've gotta do a lot of research and make sure you get the right pump. That pic that I posted was my hopeful attempt at making a silent computer. I put all kind of acoustic dampening pads and whatnot, but the pump sounded like a loud buzzing fish tank. Even at low temps.

But you also have to consider the potential disadvantage of coolant leaks. It's pretty much game over when that stuff gets on your components. Just not worth it in the long run. It's a fun project but I doubt I'll liquid cool a computer again. Unless it's with mineral oil...

They just made this game cross-platform. Someone with an Xbox can team up with someone on PC. About time game devs implemented something like that.

Yo.

I've been away from gaming for quite a while, apart from the occasional sports game on a console, so I thought to search out your competence.
I know the bibble and also the late great Alienator, and @Miesha's Taint are experts. Others too I'm sure.

I've build a new PC, a little for me, but more so for my nephew, but I am sure I will indulge in the occasional game too.

Now, can you fuckers give me some good tips on games and everything?
I will install Steam I guess, seems to be the platform right now. Or are there alternatives?

Hardware: Ryzen 7, 16gb ram, Radeon R9 200something. Got the card from a buddy. I am not looking to have the best graphics or newest games, I rather have good games, so it should be fine.
Gamepad is available too. Win 10. I will virtualize a Linux too. Or maybe put a full one besides it, not sure yet.

The kind of games I am thinking about:
4X Games
Round-based Strategy
Sports
Simulation (like a Football Manager)
RPGs
Other genres if it is really good and shouldn't be missed I guess.

Now, do you fuckers have good tips on good games from the last couple of years? Can be older too for all I care.
I'm not a friend of dishing out big bucks for a game I don't know tho.
Which ones are good and cheap? Or even free?
I already put FreeOrion on it for a first try. Works great.

Install Dota2. Ghost Bro @Condemned by Gay Jesus is a lot more qualified to explain why. There's actually quite a few free-to-play games that are incredibly addictive, so spending extra money might not even be necessary.

Round-based strategy: Civ V ($30)

Sports: Rocket League!!! ($20)

Simulation: Cities: Skylines ($7.49), Sim City 4 ($4.99, tons of mod support), Steam friend of mine plays Football Manager all day every day, so it must be a good game.

RPG: Path of Exile (free), Torchlight I and II ($20 each, just finished II, fun little Diablo-like RPG)

Dota 2 I definitely suggest, If you're a video game addict like me, it easily gets you hooked..the plus side is it doesn't take any money to play at a level playing field, while the downside is it drains your time and vitality.
Fantastic game, been on it since DotA (1) Warcraft 3 days, got a very early beta key for dota 2 in 2011 and the game has come miles since then.

I'm not sure if DotA is something I wanna put on there. Generally I rather want him to calm down and think how to do something well, instead of playing real-time, high-action kinda stuff.
And it's not about being addictive either, it should be good. :p

But thanks for the other tips.

Dota is real time problem solving, my friend is convinced they have people play low priority (punishment que if you're a griefer) in Guantanamo

Updated version of this?
The technology hasn't evolved much beyond that to be honest. I haven't built a PC in years and can still run new games really well. I'll be looking to build a next-gen PC as soon as Valve announces specs for Left 4 Dead 3 and Half-Life 3.

So it might be awhile.
