Bunch of former mob guys who knew Henry and have done interviews on YouTube say Ray Liotta & Goodfellas really made Henry look better and more important that he really was. They say he was an alcoholic, drug addict, who was into lower level nickel dime shit. I found him to be funny in interviews that he did though. Just a troubled man.My uncle knows him & hung around that crowd, almost lost his knees a few decades ago.
He said Sammy was legit, but that Henry Hill was a pussy & absolutely nothing like his portrayal in Good Fellas.
I can't even watch mafia/mob stuff anymore; next thing I'm polishing a gun & on the phone to doordash ordering sausage pizza & thin slicing garlic.
IAmazing that he lives in the open and hasn't been whacked.
You'd think any up and comer would love to have that feather in their cap, be able to brag on it.I
In this interview he says Gotti put a hit out on him. Four guys came to AZ to do it, got busted for drugs, ratted on one another, and that was the end of their hit attempt lol.
I think the days of that happening are long gone. Surveillance cameras on every corner, outside of every business, everyone recording everything with cell phones. It's tough to kill someone and get away with it nowadays. And based on interviews I've watched of these mob guys, the mafia is a shell of it's former self. Most of the young guys coming up arent Italian, dont know the history, etc. I doubt many even care about Sammy at this point. You'd think any up and comer would love to have that feather in their cap, be able to brag on it.
The few things I understand about the mafia, one is that the introduction of cocaine and heroin ruined everything. It brought too much heat.I think the days of that happening are long gone. Drug dealing didn't help. But the RICO act and stiffer sentences is what really brought down the mafia. Guilliani introduced RICO and was able to indict entire crime families. In the old days, guys would get 10 to 20 yr sentences, do 4 to 10 yrs on the 10 or 20, and come out. With RICO, guys started getting 50-100 year sentences (having to serve 85%), or life without parole. No one was willing to stand up to that kind of time, so they started cutting deals and flipping on one another. That was the end of the American mafia as we once knew it.The few things I understand about the mafia, one is that the introduction of cocaine and heroin ruined everything. It brought too much heat.

I enjoy listening to both Francese and Calandra also. Michael Francese has a pretty brilliant business mind. Calandra seems like such a soft hearted caring guy, which is crazy because he was hardcore in his day.Sammy still thinks he is a mobster. Guy is a rat. Tells a good story but thats all it is, a story told from one perspective. Francese tells just as good of a story with all the narcissism
Jimmy Calandra is another one that can tell a decent story. He isnt as polished as the other 2 but he still has his goomba accent and he does interact with his youtube followers. Like Francese he gets into tje god shit a little much at times but overall a good listen if you have 30 minutes to spare
Main lesson is they are all full of shit. Francese probably less so because he was more a racketeer than killer but they all try to portray themselves as not fucking up alot of other peoples lives.I enjoy listening to both Francese and Calandra also. True. They try to excuse it away as being "soldiers". Nah, they were just criminals.Main lesson is they are all full of shit. Francese probably less so because he was more a racketeer than killer but they all try to portray themselves as not fucking up alot of other peoples lives.
Therr is another guy named John Pennisi that has a youtube channel. He came around in the 2000s and has some good stories. He actually turned himself in to get out of the life. I think he was a made guy in the BonnanosTrue. They try to excuse it away as being "soldiers". Nah, they were just criminals.
