I get the feeling that Al WANTS to be cut by the UFC. He'd probably be a lot happier in Bellator.
I wonder why? I can't see him going to Bellator, and if he just wants to retire from fighting, nothing is stopping him.
I take pleasure in imagining this is all an elaborate troll. Al hates Egg and just wants to be the biggest pain in the ass he can be for as long as he can get away with it. It's even better if I imagine Serra is in on it.
He's a Ray Longo/Matt Serra guy. Those guys feud with the UFC, but they don't leave it.He wants the Bellator belt.
better fight, I'm done "talking up" Iaquinta's chances at winning the title, he simply doesn't believe in himself.
UFC lightweight contender Al Iaquinta has pulled out of his scheduled bout against No. 7-ranked Justin Gaethje.
Stepping in for Iaquinta in UFC’s inaugural event in Lincoln, Nebraska is No. 11-ranked James Vick, who is currently riding a four-fight win streak and has won 13 of his 14 professional fights.
If the long-standing personal feud between them is any indication, Gaethje vs. Vick has all the makings of a ‘Fight of the Night’ contender as the two powerhouses meet in the five-round main event at Pinnacle Bank Arena on August 25th.
Hes undefeated v. Hotel rooms.better fight, I'm done "talking up" Iaquinta's chances at winning the title, he simply doesn't believe in himself.
I'll be surprised if Vick makes it out of the 2nd round. I really want to say 1st, but I'll give leinancy for the "feeling out process".Vick / Gaethje is a better fight, IMO. More intriguing stylistically, plus there is some real bad blood between these two. Vick has earned this chance at headlining a card and the opportunity for a fight that will catapult him into the upper tier of the division. I think if he got rid of Lloyd, he would be a really marketable contender. While Vick is down to brawl, I actually think he wins this fight by taking a more disciplined approach.
Also, I'm not the biggest fan of Al, due to the strong island chip on his shoulder, but I respect his principles and willingness to defend his perceived self-worth.
That is an interesting take. Vick is a hard puzzle to figure out due to his length. He has also show himself to be tough as nails in a number of fights, not to mention he has a 9-1 UFC record. Granted, this is a step-up in competition, but nothing to date leads me to believe he will be a an easy out in rounds 1 or 2. Either way, I can't wait to see how it turns out! I'll look for you in the chat thread on fight night!I'll be surprised if Vick makes it out of the 2nd round. I really want to say 1st, but I'll give leinancy for the "feeling out process".
I'm not bad mouthing Vick. I just believe in Gaethe. I think coming off of 2 losses, he will be out for blood. That is an interesting take. Vick is a hard puzzle to figure out due to his length. Justin's leg kicks will open him up....Vick has been tagged in a few of his fights before. I see a 2nd round TKOThat is an interesting take. Vick is a hard puzzle to figure out due to his length. I think it's a combination of the weigh-in thing and wanting to transition to a leadership gig with a Professional Fighters' Union. It's because of the early weigh in stuff
I think Vick will benefit most from the damage that Alvarez and Poirer inflicted. That is an interesting take. Vick is a hard puzzle to figure out due to his length. That was my first thought too, got a feeling he whats to get his walking papers and walk right over to bellator, and to be honest i think that's a better place for him at the moment.I get the feeling that Al WANTS to be cut by the UFC. He'd probably be a lot happier in Bellator.
