I recently left all the gyms I was a member of on good terms.

Currently paying drop in fees when I visit and work out with friends.

Debating what to do though about where I end up.

I have a few friends with gyms and just trying to find one that fits with my current lifestyle and training needs.

To be honest, my training needs have changed as I grow older and I need to find somewhere I can enjoy training but less working with guys who are looking to be active fighters.

Having had an injury in the last little while really made me re-evaluate my regimen.

It's nice that everyone has been cool about it though and I am welcome back at any time.

Don't want to burn bridges but have to think about myself going forward.

Life happens and I’ve had to take hiatuses in training.
But I’ve witnessed so much drama over the years with people leaving and starting gyms etc
Almost soap opera like

Just walk out, go home and never return ??
It’s worked for me several times

You should just start training at home, like I do. I was just awarded my 11th degree black belt from Gracie University online. I don't have a rolling partner, I just use my sex dolls.

OP, Im actually in a similar situation. My instructor is starting to teach with a different/new style and it's not fun anymore. His schedule isn't great, he's kinda far and he travels nonstop, so it feels like he's never there. The vibe has changed and it seems like all his good guys don't train often anymore. I consider him a friend but its difficult to explain why you want to train elsewhere without totally trash talking the gym.

I always found it kind of weird that as a grown man and paying customer, you have to explain to another grown man why you want to train else where (especially if you're not an active competitor). I know those are the "rules".

I moved to another state.
This...I moved all the time due to work. Never any "feelings" involved.
Only gym I ever just ghosted was Mitch Coates gym in Boise. A couple purples didn't like the new guy showing up with some skill and targeted me pretty aggressively, left with a broken ribbon and never went back. I liked mitch well enough and his facility at the time was fantastic. But I wanted to train and just stay in shape not fight every fucking night because a few guys had fragile egos. Too old for that shit.
