Aoki is a big LW, but Askren is too seasoned for the fight to be competitive. It's too bad we never got to see Askren compete against the best, but he's an excellent example of how you can have a comfortable career in MMA without signing away everything. Wrestling was the sport where Askren seemed to really choose to be a competitor. Fighting was just a job.

so now I know that Askren will have a comeback fight around 2019-2020 and everybody will be dying in excitement pretending he was a fan favorite savage.

I always enjoyed Askren. He man handled people and totally dominated. I really wish we could've seen how he would have done against the best of the best. I, for one, believe he would have held his own against anyone. However, I believe in many peoples eyes his legacy will be that he was the best of the JV team.

I hope Ben starts doing grappling events. His MMA style is effective, although not always exciting. His wrestling style is very dynamic, it'd be great to see him continue to develop and test his submission game.

And say what you will about his legacy, he made a lot of money and secured a future for his family. And he did it without getting punched in the head a lot.
I see him competing in submission ug under chael
Metamoris or ebi would be perfect for that.
Isn't he buddies with chael?

Shame to never see him against the top of the division, can't blame him for his choices though, Aoki fight should be interesting.
