Bruce Buffer blasts Nate Diaz over under-promotion claims, says he should bow to Dana White

“I love Nate, but he’s always got a bad taste in his mouth,” Buffer said. “Nate, I heard you made $7 (million) or more dollars on your last fight. I don’t want to hear you complaining about being underpromoted by the UFC.

“You should be thanking the UFC and bowing to Dana White every time you see him, (and) Ari Emmanuel, Patrick Whitesell. You’ve got $7 (million) or more dollars gross, before taxes, maybe much more – which I love knowing that you have, Nate. Please – I don’t want to hear any more.”

I understand his thoughts, but it really isn't his place.
I can't wait to see Diaz stare through him at MSG

I respect that Nate believes his worth and that he feels his best approach in achieving that is to stick to his guns and play by his own rules. Still, he can only push so far before he overplays his hand. Nate has been a star to hardcores for years, but he only has Conor and the UFC to thank for his current level of fame and financials. He need to know the difference between growling to get his way vs biting the hand that feeds him.

Nate played the Conor thing perfectly.
He earned that $10m for the second fight.
But what drives people crazy is, nothing is ever his fault & he is never happy.
Every fight him & Nick lost, they feel they were robbed. He walks out of pressers/interviews if he isn't the center of attention.
I get raging against the machine, but pick the spots.
Not everything & everyone is against him.

But, Buffer should STFU.
This is not his business.
i get he was asked, but just say "Nick is never happy" & laugh & leave it at that.

Hang on a merry fucking minute? Nate earned $7 million for his last fight?

I’m with Buffer. Quit crying and do your job.

And it is Bruce’s place to comment on it, he’s been with the ufc forever.

Earned over $10m
He really should be winding his stupid neck in then.

Get back in the octagon and earn your next $10 million and quit being a bitch. I understand he's supporting his brother in "attitude" but take the rough with the smooth. He has a reputation as a badass to uphold, but you can't uphold that attitude without actually fighting anyone.

The Diaz pay timeline.

  • He signed to fight Conor at UFC 200 for whatever amount.
  • Conor has fall-out with UFC over doing publicity & gets the fight scratched.
  • It gets released that the reason Conor wasn't happy about doing all the publicity was due to Lorenzo agreeing to a flat $10m purse, sothe extra work did not mean extra money.
  • Diaz hears that & says he won't fight for less then $10m
  • Fight gets resched for 202
  • Reports are Diaz was paid $10m
  • His Manager sues him for $1m+ (his 10%)

They probably want him to fight for 75/75 or some bullshit .after making 10 mil that is insulting. He wont see big bucks again unless he fights conor so thats where the problem comes from.he wants more money than they think he is worth and he has enough money to say fuck you

Good for him. As much as I dislike them, I always look forward to seeing them fight. A lot to do with the build up trash talk but I'll always pay to see them.
I just don't understand what his problem is. Get back to the trash talking, fight a couple of times a year and be grateful for the opportunity. He was hardly going to make that sort of money using his brain.

I hear this a lot, but I think people conflate Nate with Nick. He usually does his press work and doesn't complain about results. He has definitely walked out of a presser or two, but usually after plenty of questions. The only time I remember him complaining he might have won was the 2nd Conor fight, which I think is justifiable as it was very close.

Also we may get sticker shock at 10 million, but the revenues on those McGregor fights were through the roof for those UFCs. Everyone who main events should be getting paid in the millions.

Buffer should shut up before Nate bitch slaps his ass. I get tired of Buffer. He is an arrogant old prick. If anyone should be sucking Dana's balls it's him. He has become rich and famous without ever putting his ass on the line.

Nate used to be in his shadow. Tables turned somewhat considering Nick can’t put the hash pipe down and fight for a living without getting banned.

At least Nate shows up for the pressers, Nick went awol for days when he was paid to do it.

I agree with Buffer, but I really don't think it's his place to say that stuff.

But then again he is a podcast host, and has to comment on various things and give real opinions, so who knows.

Whose place is it then? He should be allowed to have and voice an opinion as an employee for the UFC. If he was talking shit about his boss I would agree, but he wasn’t. He was asked a question. If he’d sat on the fence we’d all be calling him a pussy for not voicing his opinion.

Bruce should stick to his gig, and stay very neutral amongst fighters.
I doesn't really matter if he's right or not there are few jobs in MMA that have to be somewhat neutral, his is one of those

A lot of companies would can you for publicly talking about inner workings and blasting fellow employees on social media. I realize UFC is a different monster than most, but it seems funny to hear a guy who is paid millions to yell people's names criticize guys who are paid much less money to go in there and risk their health. At least to me, anyhow.

Yeah, lots of victim noises from the Brothers Diaz. Not befitting of the badasses they are on the other hand .

Why? He isn’t a referee.
Yeah, as much as I wish he wouldn’t comment, he has the right to express his opinion. If Bruce can’t do it in an interview, then Rogan shouldn’t be able to do it on a podcast. That being said, there is a huge difference between having the right to and actually doing it. The attention, drama, and potential repercussions with the Skrap Pack in the parking lot, may not be worth it. (Joking on that third one, but I meant the rest).
