Not sure of this is accurate. First thing would be to define who is considered a talker besides the obvious one being Conor, I say Ronda is one too. Some finishing rates below

Fedor - 75%
Conor - 90%
Ronda - 100%
Covington - 50%
Rampage - 62%
Kevin Lee - 59%
Ferguson - 78%

I'm skeptical that being a talker has a direct effect on finish rate and it's more to do with style of fighting and opponents.
fair enough...good points...your list is short though...chael has a sub 30% finish rate and many more examples of hollow trash talkers exist..Tito ortiz etc..

This is a new era and you listed some new era guys....while not a perfect theory, I think in the past my theory is more accurate...new era will have less and less quiet killers, as the attention whore era is upon us IMO

also I view finishing rate a bit differently than you calculated above...I prefer to think of it as the percentage of fights won by finish or stoppage, losses should increase finishing rate...so conor would have a 79% finish rate and Ronda would not have 100%...Just stating what I meant(my short sentence left a lot of details out that were in my thought, which was poorly worded)

Also my definition of finisher was not complete...A finisher to me is a guy who is always trying to end the fight, even if he is not successful in doing so(this would not end up in a measurable stat but is seen by the educated MMA eye)...I prefer to watch guys going for the finish instead of riding out a decision like Chael/Covington etc...

take care

Chael's responding to this

I think all 3 are right in their own ways, they should just go out and get a beer, all 3 of em, maybe invite Colby Covington
I get the feeling Shaub doesn't drink beer. He'll drink some sort of half pint gluten free strawberry dairy intolerant LA beer

I would just like to first agree with your statements and second point out that my boo
has the highest finish rate of them all. In fact it cannot get any higher

I agree that both are trying hard, but this is there job when you think about it. Particularly Schaub who's presenting his own MMA based talk show.
they are good at what they do and they both have a following

I just pass on them personally...i already listen to 35-50 hours of podcasts a week while at work

they just didn't make my cut.

I get why some enjoy it but they are not my style

That's fair enough I guess.
Personally I love the chemistry between Schaub and Bryan Callen on TFATK.
But like you said, each to their own.

That is great, I have certain Pods that I really get the chemistry and is just easy on the ear.

At times I do like their chemistry, but they are both a bit too hollywood for me

I loved Callen and Will Sasso and Chris D'elia on TMP first.....so TFATK is just not nearly as funny...Brian is more awkward...and Shaub gets half his jokes and material from Chris D(admittedly, he idolizes Chris)

Does Sasso do any podcasts anymore? His impressions and characters are among the best ever.

So little podcasts so little time

Is the company owner aware you spend 90% of the work day on podcasts?

I am the "company"
I do the work...I do the billing
I get up early...I sleep in

I'm small time and self employed

used to do giant jobs and budgets and run huge crews...was fun but stressful and living out of town blows

I actually agree with Chael on this one. Colby isn’t trying to sell his gimmick to us on MMA forums and to people who listen to MMA podcasts. We’re going to watch the fights no matter what. He’s trying to sell it to the vast majority of casuals who have never listened to You’re Welcome, or still refer to Rogan as the Fear Factor guy. That’s Cody’s target audience. He’s a talented fighter who knows he has a shelf life and is just trying to build his image so that when he starts getting PPV points, people will hit the order button so they can see this “Asshole who talks a lot of shit get his ass beat!” It’s the entertainment business. Joe’s taking money out of his pocket.
