Conor McGregor could be facing legal battle for Instagram photo | BJPenn.com

If you don’t own it, don’t treat it as if it were your own unless you’re willing to pay for it.

Those are the thoughts that Platinum Executive Travel had running through their mind after seeing an Instagram post from UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor standing on the hood of one of their Rolls-Royce Wraith rentals, which is believed to be worth around $300,000. McGregor said in the caption of his photo standing on the luxury car, “Liverpool we run your entire city.”

The luxury rental company said that they are assessing the car for any damages and considering if taking legal action is necessary.

A spokesperson for the luxury vehicle rental company that even has chauffeurs that come with the cars commented on “The Notorious” and his Instagram post.

“He is stood on the car acting like it is his own,” said the spokesperson to the Liverpool Echo.

“It is not his own.”

Aleem Iqbal, son of Saleem Iqbal, who runs the luxury rental car company has garnered his own following on social media with flaunting his own cars and riches. Many people commented tagging Aleem in the comments of McGregor’s post noticing it was his car. According to the Liverpool Echo, Aleem commented on McGregor’s Instagram post of him standing on the Rolls Royce saying, “When you own one Conor you can stand on it like Floyd until then you can lose your deposit for standing on mine.”

The spokesperson for Platinum Executive Travel declined to comment on how much McGregor put down for the deposit on the vehicle. However, the spokesperson said that with “the level of disrespect” that was displayed by the UFC lightweight champion, he will no longer be welcomed to book vehicles through this particular luxury car company.

Did you read the article or just the title?

The legal actions would be for any damages caused to the car when McGregor climbed up on it.

The luxury rental company said that they are assessing the car for any damages and considering if taking legal action is necessary.
McGregor has already been banned from renting any more cars through them.

Really? That's a pretty definitive statement. Have you read the rental contracts for P.E.T?

Either way, the legal issues would have nothing to do with pretending the car is yours and all about the damages to it, as I previously mentioned.

How would I know?

My point is, the lawsuit is for potential damage, not for pretending to own the car as you mistakenly thought.
I wasn't saying "news flash" to you. I was just saying it in general....and there is no evidence of any damage. As of right now...it is just them spouting off because he's posting a picture standing on their car. Ban him from renting and keep his damage deposit...that looks about as far as they can take this right now.

Based off what? How do you know what the hood looked like after McGregor climbed down off it?

Point is, McGregor is legally liable for any damage he did to the car because it was a rental. That is it, that is all.

I'm not really sure what you are disagreeing with>?

Is the car worth more than the house he's Infront of? Or is that an Irish pub?

Platinum Executive Travel - who today told the ECHO they were assessing the car, believed to be a £240,000 Rolls-Royce Wraith, for damage and considering whether to take legal action.

Years ago (I'm about to date myself here) when MTV had Puff Daddy (I believe that's the moniker he was using then) host the VMA's in Miami, I was a PA for the show and a event coordinator for several parties in the area. For some of the promotional stuff around the city, they did photo shoots with celebs and models doing rich South Beach stuff. One of the shoots involved (I forget what celeb) and models laying across Ferrari's.

Long and short, apparently one of the Ferrari's suffered a scratch from one of the girls heels, and there was a dent in the hood from where someone was laying, and discoloration on one of the leather seats. Of course the production company had insurance for it, but I heard it was close to 10 grand to repair everything.

Based off of the fact they haven't shown any damage....if they are chirping about a photo...they'd sure as shit be posting any actual damage to the car.
I get your point...and I'm making the same point. Yes he would be liable for any damage to the car, just like any of us when we rent a car. I'm sure the insurance was through the roof and whatever amount was put down on it probably wasn't small either.

But none of that is grounds for suing Conor. Charge him the fee or withhold his deposit....if he refutes the charges, then it is a legal battle...but I highly doubt that ever happens.

Hahaha nope. Detective RVD in the building!
used to work for them, so yeah lol. Andlook at the douche rainbowing me for being right lol

the funny thing is, there's no damage in the photo, and if there's no damage when it's turned in, they have no grounds to stand on.. atleast from my prior experience here in teh states. Dunno about rental laws in the UK/Ireland.
