Serious question. Would it humble him, or send him completely off the deep end?

Yes, yes, yes...

He has that holier than thou complex going and considering how bad of a person he is out of the cage maybe its time for his Mike Tyson type fall from grace.

Remember that song "i wanna be like mike"? I think jones is looking up to the wrong mike.

I dont know if it would 'humble' him but it might cause him to take things a bit more serious.

I think Jones would quickly point out an excuse for his loss and continue to be Jon.

I think it would send him off the deep end and he would lose his shit completely.

I'm kind of leaning towards this as well. But imagine if he loses to DC, it humbles him, and he chooses to stop fucking around & dedicates himself fully to MMA. That's a scary proposition.

Jail time is the only thing that will humble him imo, forced to take a long hard look at your life

I think Jones will do fine, win or lose against Cormier, because he has a lot to prove after the last couple of years

Lose, he comes back better.

Win, still comes back better.

He was very close to it with the Gustafsson fight, which could have gone the other way and no one would have been able to complain about it.

It's hard for me to see him losing, at least now. Maybe in 7-10 years when he loses a step.

Have you ever known someone with a legit personality disorder?

Trick question: you definitely have, but I guess the question is whether you see them that way.

IMO, there is no fixing what's wrong with Jones. He can still excel, but he will always have the shortcomings he has as a person.

(FWIW, as I type that, the remembrance in my mind is of him telling Cormier "I beat you when I was doing a shitload of coke," [give or take a few words] letting the cat out of the bag that he hasn't changed anything about himself after everything.)

If his personality is anything like mine, which I think it is (addictive personality), a loss to someone he hates will be extremely problematic.

However, being an addictive personality also makes you go all in on something when you are thinking about it, so he will put everything into not losing that fight......

So, yes, he will probably go off the deep end if he loses.

I think how he would handle it is very predictable. He has already used the 'I didn't bother training' excuse for the Gus fight and he would find a similar way to justify a loss. And if all of the bad shit that he has done hasn't stopped his reckless behavior, then a loss want do it.

I don't see it crippling him mentally at all like that silly, nutty broad.

I think he's already been humbled.
We just haven't had a chance yet to see the result.

I'd like to see Cormier defeat him, two times.
The torch should be passed from The Last Emperor, to The Black Emperor, divisions aside.

A loss wouldn't humble him. He knows he lost to Gus and it didn't change anything.

The only thing that may change him is age. He's a young dude who is blessed with amazing talent. He broke into fortune and fame quickly and couldn't handle it. Maybe with age will come wisdom and humility. Hopefully for his sake, it happens sooner rather than later.

Too little, too late. This asshole is turns 30 years old in a couple weeks. He's fought 3 times in the last 3-1/2 years, ie the prime physical years of his career.
JJ is a perfect example of a gifted athlete who got by on pure athleticism. When that wasn't enough, he added lazy cheats like the eye pokes. What he hasn't done is to improve himself, to work and dedicate himself to his craft. And now that he's starting to slow down a little, he doesn't have the years of dedication to the art of MMA that makes so many other aging fighters so crafty and smart and dangerous. He's never shown a real work ethic, and there's no way he will discover one at this stage.

The game has evolved while he's been off snorting up his potential. He may have a few more wins in him, but the one time GOAT candidate is no more.
Personally, I wouldn't care if he never fought again.

No one will ever be great at wrestling and "undefeated" in the UFC for as long as he has been without a strong work ethic... coming from a jones hater .

Even with the physical advantages, you still need to put in the work. There's a million other people with the same body frame as jones that will never be able to fight as well as he does , because he spent years working on his craft

As a high school and college kid, yes. As a MMA fighter, I believe he's been too lazy for too long.

Honestly, I want him to lose for DC's sake. He kept on fighting, beating everyone and he still has to deal with his only loss. I just hope DC can pull it off this time. Then he can retire and JBJ can come back and clean house. I like watching JBJ fight but I like DC more. :)

How do we know he hasn't already dedicated himself?

He's admitted that he hasn't, due to partying. Made a comment something like he's beaten all of these guys without training like he should have. Can't remember the exact quote but he discussed it on Rogans podcast.
