Francis Ngannou released a statement Tuesday addressing his involvement in a fatal motorcycle crash in his native Cameroon that ended with a 17-year-old girl dying from injuries sustained in the accident.
The accident reportedly occurred over Easter weekend where Ngannou was driving a motorcycle that collided with a young woman in the Omnisports district of Yaounde, Cameroon. Exact details about the crash haven’t been released yet, but the victim suffered injuries to her arm and leg with Ngannou reportedly rushing her to a local medical facility for treatment.
Sadly, she could not be saved and the young woman died at Yaounde General Hospital.
“From the very beginning, I have been by the family’s side, offering support, comfort, and deepest condolences during this time,” Ngannou told TMZ Sports. “I’ve met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way.”
“I carry their pain with me, and my unwavering thoughts and support remain with them as they face this heartbreaking loss.”
