I can't say we've seen enough of either of them to make a solid statement on it. Punk will be showing up with twice the training he went into the 1st with... & I don't know what Mike's been doing, but he ain't been fighting. Probably holding down a 40 hour/wk job & training on the side.To beat Brooks....yes I do.
You may be right, no one knows for sure but I'm going on the assumption Jackson has been training for a while and Brooks is older and looked absolutely horrible in his only fight, even improving significantly he would still be a very bad fighter IMO.I can't say we've seen enough of either of them to make a solid statement on it. I could be wrong about his training... but I find it hard to believe there's that much certainty toward Punk losing ya know.
All that training went out the window with that double leg. Looked like an audience member from there on out. It's what playing in the NBA would look like after 2 years of training.it's cool that he's dedicated so much to training, and it's always inspiring to see people go after mid-life career changes full-on, but... do we really need to see this again?

or if, say, Robert Redford decided he wanted to give baseball a shot for real after starring in The Natural. It's not so far-fetched - after all, he probably played in HS and got some instruction from big-leaguers for the movie and took some BP with big league teams here and there as a celebrity. George Steinbrenner sees dollar signs and says he'll be in the opening lineup for the Yankees in 1984 (or whatever year that was), skipping the minors altogether. All that training went out the window with that double leg. What's this all about? Stats show that Brooks has zeros across the board with the exception of landing 6/8 strikes which were from his back.He faced a legit brown belt in Mickey Gall and did far better than many of us on this forum and the others would have. Bet that stings, huh?
Maybe including his WWE punches? What's this all about? Stats show that Brooks has zeros across the board with the exception of landing 6/8 strikes which were from his back.

I'm all for him making the most of his opportunity but let's not rewrite how it went down.
Again, I am saying to you and pretty much everyone else on this forum that isn't a pro/ammy fighter.. He did better than you would have. What's this all about? Stats show that Brooks has zeros across the board with the exception of landing 6/8 strikes which were from his back.

No. He did exactly what anyone would done. Nothing. And get owned. He showed zero training.Again, I am saying to you and pretty much everyone else on this forum that isn't a pro/ammy fighter.. He did better than you would have.
Wrong. Go back and rewatch it. Luckily for me, I have someone who's trained people and was Ranked number 1 in the world for many years standing behind me. He's trained, but going against a legit brown belt, he was completely outclassed but showed that he trained. He's showing skills learned, but isn't able to chain them together fast enough to truly be effective in there. It's really easy to say he got wrecked, he got destroyed etc... but that was expected going against Gall.No. He did exactly what anyone would done. Nothing. And get owned. He showed zero training.
Based on what? What moments in that fight made you think "heeeey he's got some fight in him!"Again, I am saying to you and pretty much everyone else on this forum that isn't a pro/ammy fighter.. He did better than you would have.
Agreed. He's trained, but going against a legit brown belt, he was completely outclassed but showed that he trained.

That is why we're not in there fighting Micky Gall, underestimating what killers these guys are. But for the right amount of cash, why the heck not. Not blaming the guy for making some dough on the side. I would do the same thing.I doubt many of you would have made weight, let alone gotten to the cage lol.
Zero fucking moments. He got handled and put on the floor, never had a chance to show off any type of skill. He fought as someone oiff the street would fight off an attacker. It's like when they have an audience member throwing a free throw in basketball.Based on what? What moments in that fight made you think "heeeey he's got some fight in him!"
That's how I remember it too but the "gotta give him props/respect" thing is getting old. Yes what he did at his age and experience and not needing the paycheck is cool but let's just be honest, he got beat up in brutal fashion as expected. Know who else would get their ass kicked in there? My wife, doesn't mean I'd hate her or point the finger afterwards. I'd tell her she got shit kicked then make sweet love to her.Zero fucking moments. He got handled and put on the floor, never had a chance to show off any type of skill. And I get it, a lot of WWE guys wanting to support him. But he ain't no Brock lol. That's how I remember it too but the "gotta give him props/respect" thing is getting old. I wish Kurt Angle had an opportunity. And I get it, a lot of WWE guys wanting to support him. But he ain't no Brock lol.
Things he did wrong: Rushed in and didn't space himself well. He gave up the puncher's chance when he did that. We knew mickey was good on the ground, but no one knew just how good. Mickey gave him no space. Best thing he could have done was wall walk or closed guard.Agreed.

With that little amount of training versus a legit brown belt you look like an unskilled fighter. That is what I am saying. Nothing against the guy personally, just how it went down to me.Tara's saying "It wasn't coming to him fast enough. He just wasn't as skilled in putting the moves together as Mickey, there were sweeps and things he could have done but they are for more advanced grapplers. He just wasn't there."
