Rose Namajunas won the strawweight title by accident.

That’s according to former 115-pound champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who got walloped at the UFC 217 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this month in New York City, the first defeat of her professional career

“Some people can’t believe I’m smiling and in good mood, they think I should sit and cry and do nothing. I do my business from the beginning to the end and this is who I am. You make a good point. Much like Ronda, JJ seemed to beat a lot of her opponents before they entered the cage. Once Ronda got taken to the woodshed by someone she couldn't intimidate, she was never the same. It will be interesting to see if JJ can recapture that swag against someone that just sent her to dream world.

She is starting to ooz arrogance and delusion. Not a good sign. Humility after an ass whipping seems to be a forgotten trait.

You make a good point. Much like Ronda, JJ seemed to beat a lot of her opponents before they entered the cage. Once Ronda got taken to the woodshed by someone she couldn't intimidate, she was never the same. It will be interesting to see if JJ can recapture that swag against someone that just sent her to dream world.

Rhonda went into hiding immediately after her loss, JJ has carried on as usual. I dont see her losing her swagger. Not saying she will win against Rose but I dont see her mindfucking herself over a loss either.

I'm hoping it's just an effort to keep up her sense of being unbeatable, trying to convince herself more than the fans. If she really thinks that Rose won by accident then she's not going to learn from that lose at all. For now I'll assume it's testing out the heel role and trying to troll her way back to the front page.

Losses happen to everyone except Floyd Mayweather. GSP got similarly embarrassed by Matt Serra, which is a lot worse than losing to Rose, and he hasn't lost since.

There is literally no comparison between JJ and Ronda besides their both having ovaries. Different interactions with opponents, media, coaches, etc. They were both dominant, but JJ's career is much more comparable to Chuck or Matt Hughes. Tough fighters who only looked human once or twice and who were confident due to having such an easy time in the cage for awhile. Suddenly someone had their number, which didn't mean they were done for, but that they had to recalibrate, which neither were able to do. We'll see if Joanna can.

It's just my opinion obviously, but I believe she's at the end of her prime as an athlete. 30 has traditionally marked the end of a combat fighter's prime, when not taking specific types of "supplements". Most fighters in their early 30s are at the tail end of their prime, or sometimes past it depending on how long they've been fighting. That's not to say that JJ couldn't still beat every woman in that division not named Rose Namajunas. I also don't think it's just a matter of JJ plugging some holes, but time will tell.

That's fair. Guess the only thing that keeps a fighter improving past their physical prime is "fight smarts" something that continues for a life time. Which is probably why we see these older fighters improve.

Time will tell with JJ. Going to be good to see if she can stop what Rose has to offer

I was just thinking "MAN, if only JJ had worked on her cockiness more before entering this fight, she would've kept her belt"

Truth is she was dusted up by the hungrier fighter... JJ was her usual self, that version who lost the belt could've beaten most people that night, but Rose had a perfect well executed game plan, and she had that extra grit that night. JJ needs to put herself in deeper waters in training camp if she ever expects to beat Rose, arrogance doesn't win fights.
