Lot of hate for Rogan in here. He’s definitely the best commentator by a wide margin. There are a couple other decent guys, but he’s head and shoulders above everyone else. I literally fell asleep on my couch mid day listening to the commentary from Liverpool. And i like Dan Hardy.
just re read the thread

I found zero Hate...just opinions

I respect yours, but that does not make anyone else opinion any less worthy

Agreed as long as Bas isn't with Quadros. They're fucking unbearable if you try to go back and listen to them work the booth together.
Ha Ha

I love that duo

one of the more credible duos ever...two strikers....Quad was a bit wacky but he also had some great insights IMO...he sees striking intricacies better than Rogan IMO

to each their own

Keep in mind they knew the outcome of half of the events they did together(commentary was added after the fact)...so it was impossible to have a live feel

Militech-Bas Rutten-Frank Mir

I put all those guys above joe

But that is just my personal opinion
Bas has gone down hill with his commentary work in the last few events I’ve seen with him at the mic. I can’t argue Pat or Mir. They’re both top notch commentators.

Haven’t listened to bas in a long time after some podcast interviews. He has some funny stories but he gives off this vibe that it’s all about him

Haha honestly I just can't stand Quadros but having gone back and watched some of the Pride cards recently including ones that were both live and taped post there are some cringe af moments from both of them.

Damn I wish I could remember which King of the Cage event that Eddie Bravo did drunk with Erik Apple. Hands down that has to be one of the worst commentaries ever

early MMA is full of cringe commentary...still is IMO
most of the commentators have their ego involved in it somehow and it shows

Frank is the most neutral IMO
and aside from an occasional humble Brag Pat Miletich is amazing
These two ^ are the most technical and open minded

bas is defiantly an acquired taste

Joe is the ultimate Fanboy commentator(UFC) but I find him locking in to certain aspects and totally missing others as they are occurring...his passion on point but I watch for the fights not the passion or jokes...Joe seems to lock onto a narrative based on previous fights and his personal fight pick.

Says a lot about him. All that says to me is 'I'm a cunt who can't accept criticism and that's why my comedy and commentary sucks'.

His commentary can be very good at times but at other times he is god awful. And that's not just my opinion - he has faced so much public criticism before that he's had to release public apologies. He has ruined many fights with biased, hysterical commentary.

If the producers were telling him to change everything about his style, sure, tell them to go fuck themselves. But it's literally their job to stop people from hijacking a broadcast with nonsense, and telling him to calm down would just be doing us all a big favor.
I disagree.
It says a lot about the suits who knew nothing about the sport and are trying to run it the way they think it should be run for a balance sheet report to please investors.

Joe has a lot of holes in his (commentary) game, but being loud and passionate is the best thing he does. And that's the one thing they shouldn't try to control in a crazy sport.

I'd like to see the occasional interlude from Quadros in full Baron Von Beatdown character from a book-lined parlor with a roaring fireplace

I really wanted to read this post, but I felt like, "they want me to read the whole thing, then comment", and I don't roll that way.
I read how I read, I've been doing it forever, it's non-negotiable.
If I'm gonna read all of this, I might as well go to Sherdog 1.0.

I like Mir a lot and remember when he was commentating on the Miguel Torres’ first loss in wec. I honestly thought frank might cry live on air.

I like Joe, too amped up and very ridiculous at times but I prefer Joe commentating over others, they’re fuckin boring.

Joe keeps it real, meaning all that ridiculousness he brings is not some act, but a real reaction, and just like how he tells big organizations to eat a dick, he stands by his principles.

Joe should keep doing what he’s doing because that’s what got him all the success.

Joe also always mentions, the UFC gig is just a fanboy thing, if Dana is gone, he’s gone too and do Fight companions all day and that’s what I usually listen to over the regular commentary.
