While working in a hazelnut field in Turkey, a farmer was suddenly attacked by a lion that had escaped from the zoo. After the shock, the farmer managed to fight back—first punching the lion, then forcing the wild animal to flee by choking it. He was later taken to the hospital for treatment.
Kır, describing the moment of the incident, said:
"Around 5:00 in the morning, I heard a whispering sound. When I lifted the blanket over me, the lion pounced on me. We struggled, we wrestled, and I shouted, ‘Isn’t there anyone?’ While it was biting my calves and neck, I managed landed some punches then to grab its neck and squeezed. It ran off a bit after that. They’re building a zoo in a place without even a children’s park. There’s no security, nothing. I will press charges against each and every one of those responsible. If I hadn’t been a bit strong, I wouldn’t be here right now. If I hadn’t defended myself, I would’ve been gone. Who’s going to answer for this? You don’t build a zoo next to a highway. I will file a complaint against all of them.”
