Either way this weight cutting shit needs to be banned.

Fight at ur fucking natural weight or you don't fight. Period

This shit is beyond ridiculous and entirely pointless to boot
It looks like they are going to wait for someone to die.

A stroke is fucking scary but it would completely explain all the symptoms that max exhibited.

dehydrating the body to dangerous levels intentionally is just a horrible thing

fighting the next day is just insane

coach told me I would dominate the district or whatever at 150 something and I decided to play basketball instead

I was a lean 170 at the time and the wrestlers in rubber suits didn't make any sense to me...bad mofos but I hate extreme heat.

I thought he was displaying those symptoms before he started his weight cut?

I really, really hope Max is ok. This is just the last straw though. This nonsense needs to be BANNED. It is such a ridiculous practice. For God's sake Ortega and Max walk around at the same weight (as do 99% of fighters in the same weightclass) yet they dehydrate themselves to the point of organ failure or stroke(!) and then fight....

open weight had it right...fight with your brain fully protected and your body fully healthy

these guys are leaving half of their skill and stamina and strength on the scale and sauna floor

I wanna see the worlds best MMA guys at their absolute best...not gonna happen with guys depleting their mojo to deadly levels

If he suffered a stroke, then he definitely shouldn’t fight again, let alone cut any more weight

I wonder if this is coming from the random Twitter account that I saw several MMA journos talking about.

The guy said he thought it was Bell's Palsy and even referred to that as a "mini stroke" which is very wrong other than they can cause paralysis on one side of the body.

Less weightclasses. Go back to when this shit wasn't as common. The more weightclasses, the more oppertunities to get that advantage. What's 10 more pounds right?

I was going to eat a large bowl of mashed potato, then decided to eat fewer than that.

All of your mom's had a stroke in my bed last night, but I'm pretty sure none of them have been trying to cut weight.

Thank you everybody! Try the fish.

It sure the hell would.

Looks like Brian shoulda took the interim fight offer. Who knows what happens
if this turns out to be true
If Max never fights again, Brian's next fight will be for the championship...on a full camp, against a known opponent - instead of a 'surprise' opponent on 2 days notice.

Brian made the smart move. Frankie/Aldo/Stephens...who's going to jump Brian for a title fight if Max retires?
