Great fucking decision to stop defending (well, you know what I mean)The ref was behind him. He may be talking to a coach though

Well makes sense that he thinks he's above everyone else. I can remember him never stopping to hype himself and his record up on TUF season 2 way back when.Melvin trained at gyms ive been to before and even though he was still fighting mma he only did mittwork and spared but refused to grapple. I never actually saw him sweat and he only wanted to work with a striking coach during the hours he taught classes so alot of shit had to be moved around to accomodate him.Theres alot of other shit i cant mention and as usual drugs were suspected to be an issue
I got the feeling he thought he was above everyone even though he was a losing streak and couldnt make weight repeatedly. Towards the end of his stay there was alot of rumors of BS going on and then he got KOd in a fight and we never saw him again
Kinda funny ive never met a cokehead who couldnt make weight
Yeah I think he was talking to whoever he thought would help him. LOLThe ref was behind him. He may be talking to a coach though

feels like only yesterday that he was knocking out Shane Roller (UFC 132) and that was such a great night of fights too
Dominick Cruz (c) def. Urijah Faber Decision (unanimous)

Dennis Siver def. Matt Wiman Decision (unanimous)
Tito Ortiz def. Ryan Bader Submission (guillotine choke)

Brian Bowles def. Takeya Mizugaki Decision (unanimous)
Aaron Simpson def. Brad Tavares Decision (unanimous)
Anthony Njokuani def. Andre Winner Decision (unanimous)
Jeff Hougland def. Donny Walker Decision (unanimous)
I was sure he was on a title run after beating Jeremy Stephens and then Evan Dunham before going on to KO Roller but then the wheels came off and he never really got going again. That Lauzon fight was upsetting.
my first UFC event was Hughes vs Gracie (UFC 60) which was 12 years ago .. I can't even believe I've been watching MMA that long, feels like it was just last week I was seeing Anderson Silva for the first time in Cage Rage reruns.Damn this just means I'm gettin old as fuck!
My first was UFC 79 Chuck Wandy & GSP Hughes....and Clementi Guillard. One of the most decent nights out ever...but it feels like so damned long ago now and it's only been 10 and a bit years.my first UFC event was Hughes vs Gracie (UFC 60) which was 12 years ago .. I've never seen any MMA event live, this was on free tv in the UK and they hyped the shit out of Hughes vs Gracie. Turned out to be a squash match. My first was UFC 79 Chuck Wandy & GSP Hughes....and Clementi Guillard. I always forget Anderson was a champ in Cage Rage. I never saw him, but I went a couple of times in Wembley.
If I recall, I’d bought tickets already because I was an immediate Chuck fan, but GSP stepping in as soon as Sera was injured and couldn’t fight Hughes I went crazy. As it turned out I was sort of supporting Hughes because he got booed so badly in the weigh ins I felt bad for him.I've never seen any MMA event live, this was on free tv in the UK and they hyped the shit out of Hughes vs Gracie. UFC 79 was another great card, I can't even imagine how enjoyable that must've been from cageside.
You know he was 7-1 in his previous 8 heading into that fight with Lauzon, and after it he went 3-11-2.I was sure he was on a title run after beating Jeremy Stephens and then Evan Dunham before going on to KO Roller but then the wheels came off and he never really got going again. Yeah that run was pretty good after the Clementi loss, and against Nate Diaz he scored a knockdown and was doing pretty well until he feigned being hurt to try and land that leaping punch off the cage, and instead ended up taking Diaz down in a moment of madness. You know he was 7-1 in his previous 8 heading into that fight with Lauzon, and after it he went 3-11-2.
I was at that fight. The UFC had a Fan Expo going on that weekend, within walking distance of the arena. I remember thinking it was weird that Melvin was there, taking photos with fans the day before and walking around and giving interviews the day of the fight. He definitely had the attitude of a man who thought the fight was already win.
Just wanted to say thank you for posting that video/interview. Never heard that story before, was a good one. Reminds me of how luck Conor Mcgregor was a few weeks back(bus incident). This seems to be a pattern. You guys remember the shit Melvin pulled at Grudge
and did to Rose so Pat had to step in and check him? Details at 4:10 Mark. NOT Cool!
