Disregard. It seems this function appears to work, just not 100% of the time. Old site was the same.

Any variation that you're seeing is because of coming back to the website after the upgrade and everything being "new" to your computer.

if you click a thread you've already read everything in then it will Just go to the first post because nothing is new to jump to.

Also pay attention to the 'new' icon that lets you know the new posts. As well as the button to jump to new content

might be a setting on my phone. (I haven't been on from a computer yet) but just a heads up that "remember me" doesn't not seem to work while accessing the site from a chrome web page via Android phone (I have to log in each time)

Possibly something wonky with your phone due to the site upgrade and maybe holding cookies from the old site.

I'm using the same setup daily and that is what this website has been predominantly tested on.
Hit an incognito tab and log in and see what happens.

Message me if it persists and will work through it together

Dunno if this was answered already, but...

Prior to the upgrade, the alert bell would be updated to indicate when someone posted in a thread you're subscribed to, mentioned you, or posted on your status, etc. without having to reload the browser tab. Since the upgrade, I've had to manually reload the page. Is there a way to get the old behavior back?

I might experiment with the old way but its not preferred. It's limiting mobile layout with icons all over the place.
I don't really care either way, but I guess I'll just say I prefer the old way as well. I never thought it was an issue on mobile. We don't need a million icons anyway.

I'm double checking. But the behavior is the same.
The previous alerts weren't actually from some auto refresh. They happened when ANYTHING else made an AJAX call on the page.
So I'll look at what we are doing. I've stripped a lot out so the site might not be working as hard and with that alerts might not be getting called as often.
The change in page makes at that call which is why it forces it.
But any other AJAX call will do it too.

It might not seem like much but on mobile you are adding another row of icons to load x 25 rows
I will let this all get settled in and we'll do some A/B testing on some of it and see what people prefer.

Yeah, that might explain it. It use to get updated frequently. It isn't now, but it might do it if I was more patient.

Yep, I just noticed it in another thread as well. It seems it just isn't as often as it was. No biggie.
could be. Also could be hanging out in dead threads like this one that dont send a signal to you notifying of new posts/content (which catches an alert check at the same time)

thanks for the upgrade @Splinty . i appreciate the fact that you do this for us out of your own pocket and with your own time
Totally agree. Thanks @Splinty, we all appreciate what you put into this place.

Haven’t been on much today, but so far it’s looking good. Definitely some changes making it look more modern, yet it still feels familiar in function. Looking forward to dark theme again!

I have an APPLE IPHONE (like in the commercials), for some reason I can't log in because it's not recognizing my old username. Could this be a "cookies" thing?
