My mate did it with a porta nailer....We were doing a solid floor.... serrated nails too....Very hard to pull back through.

I've done it. It scares you more than it hurts.
Gotta admit I'm surprised with his calmness while he slowly pulled it back out. That's the part that hurts. I usually grab a pair of pliers to grab the nail, then hit the pliers with a hammer to get the nail out with a quickness.
When I was framing houses back in the 90s my boss was super excited about the new nail guns he bought us. We spent the week tripping over air hoses and 3 guys shot themselves. He returned them and we went back to using hammers. Haha.
