There is no official announcement yet, but the rumors are swirling that Nate Diaz vs. Tyron Woodley is in the works to main event UFC 219 on December 31st.
Earlier today, Nate’s strength and conditioning coach deleted an Instagram post saying Nate is back in fight camp; meanwhile, Tyron Woodley has been hinting he’s close to announcing a fight with someone outside his division.

"Don't be surprised if you see me in the next couple days announce a fight," Woodley told FloCombat. "It's a sport about risk and reward. It's a sport about becoming a legend. You look at guys that have stepped up on last minute and it changed their lives. I don't think that I should be any different.

"There's a lot of guys in my weight class that are talking, they're chirping, everybody wants the title, everybody wants to fight me, everybody thinks they can beat me. People are talking because they think I can't fight. They think I'm injured to the point where I can't compete and I'm not going back and forth with them so that gives them more wings to keep flying.

"At the end of the day, none of the people in my division right now are the fight that are going to get me to legendary status," he added. "Get me to the point where I'm a household name. I'm looking for that and I might have found that fight."
Midnight Mania! Tyron Woodley vs. Nate Diaz to headline UFC 219??

'Getting creative'

You can almost smell the moisture emanating from the mermaid's pussy every time they try to pull nonsense like this.

I honestly don't think he likes the sport of MMA - it seems to bore him. He is fascinated only by drama and 'drama' usually just means 'stupid shit'.

Also, I believe that WME is seriously considering making this trash, but I'm going on record in stating that the fight will not actually happen.

Like most casual fans, WME can't tell the difference between Nick and Nate Diaz.
I'd love to see Nick fight NYE.
Nick vs. Chuck Liddell, Nick rides a bike to the octagon in speedos.
Sold.

Here's an out there theory..... IF this fight is made.

Could this be put together because of the Bellator/McGregor fiasco? Sounds crazy? Yes!!

We heard Conor was in negotiations and perhaps fighting on Dec 30 UFC 219 card. Some saying it was finalized but no one knew if it would be Ferguson or DIaz as his opponent.

Dana hint's the Main Event is about to be announced just waiting for everything to be official.

B,ellator Has Card in Ireland on Friday and Conor goes off his nut, everyone is talking about how he should be, and if he will be disciplined.

Next we hear the UFC says Conor is being disciplined and now off UFC 219.

That's what we have heard in bits and pieces so far.. If Diaz is supposed to be on UFC 219, he would be Conor's opponent at 155 for the trilogy and the LW Belt. Nate would be Making a LOT of cash from this and for sure there was a number of clauses in the contract. One may have been; Conor can't fight due to any reason other than "injury", Nate STILL gets a shot at a Title, is Still the Main event and GETS PAID. The UFC bets heavily on Mac thinking he hasn't had USADA issues, if slightly injured he doesn't pull out of fights so the risk is fairly minimal.

What could possibly go wrong ??? (Cough, Cough, Mac goes insane at a Bellator Event).

If some sort of scenario like this happened, the UFC could give Woodley at 170 or Ferguson (interm belt) at 155. Ferguson may not want the fight holding out for MacGregor (if he was even offered the bout). Woodley would JUMP on it for sure. Main Event on one of the biggest cards of the year and should be a fairly easy fight for him. TW could stand and try and KO Diaz, if that fails, take him down. Diaz has NEVER done well with wrestlers, especially at 170.

The other side of the coin is the UFC could have offered Woodley as a replacement hoping Nate wouldn't take the fight. If he declined, they wouldn't have to shell out the big cash.

No, anytime conor us on a card, it gives maximum notice for maximum exposure. Conor was never even considered for December 30ty, at least not this late.

how is this even a winnable fight for nate?
Its a bad idea. If Nate even shows up that'll be the spring board to promote Conor's next David vs Goliath fight.

"I'm mean listen...Fucking Nate Diaz just took on an absolute killer in Tyron Woodely for the WW title. The fact that Conor is even accepting this fight again is nuts, fucking crazy man....Nate could be fighting at MW and here we have Conor calling him out again because he is a fucking warrior. Nobody does what Conor does, nobody...."

Kind of risky? If Diaz gets destroyed and/or embarrassed by Woodley, it takes a lot of luster off of a Conor/Diaz Trilogy fight.

Holloway was about to defend against Frankie. Still fighting a late replacement Aldo ( unlike some who wouldn't give Jose a rematch),

DC has faced pretty much anyone who's been put in front of him. Too bad he lost to JJ

Those two are the ones IMO who face deserving opponents and are not afraid.

GSP, I'm still on the fence. Only because he never spoke on who he'd face next before, because he learned over time the UFC changes it's mind. Georges NEVER declined a fight put in front of him as Champion during his reign. IF he does end up facing Whittaker, IMO no matter how he does it will show he was a real Champ who never turned down a deserving contender. However if he does face The Reaper no question he will step down from MW right after.. IF he won, he'd nothing more to prove. Would be the only Two Div Champ to ever defend both Titles and could return to his real weight class.

You're right, almost every other Champion has some story of someone they don't want to fight or they want to hold up the belt going the route of Boxing for a payday or some other crap.

Nate Diaz is 1-3 at WW, with his lone win obviously coming against FW turned LW Conor McGregor. He's also coming off a loss. But yeah, who better to challenge for the WW title right now?
