Need Beta Testers for New Fantasy MMA Game

Hello TMMAC:

I am here to announce the beta launch of a new type of fantasy MMA game. We need beta testers for this new game and I'd like to invite you guys to try it.

This new game differs from existing fantasy MMA, in that it is modeled after fantasy football, with an upfront draft of fighers within each league, and ongoing management of team rosters over the course of a defined season. It all takes place on an automated website, similar to ESPN or Yahoo fantasy football, so no manual scoring necessary.

Currently, there are two existing types of games in the fantasy MMA universe:

1. DraftKings style (daily fantasy services) - just like with DFS for football, this style is based on a single MMA event (or in football's case, a single NFL weekend). This is more akin to traditional gambling than traditional fantasy football. You play in large expanded pools of players, rather than small interpersonal leagues. And you can overlap picks with other managers - i.e. the same player/fighter can be owned by multiple managers. There is no draft, nor exclusivity in selections, nor a season. This is quick-hitter fantasy.

2. MMAPlayground style (pick'em pools) - these are similar to traditional "football pools." For every MMA event (similar to a weekend of NFL) users pick winners/finish types for some or all of the fights on the card. It's like picking weekly NFL games outcomes and then comparing picks to see who got the most right. Football pools make a fine game, but they are not fantasy football. There is no fighter draft, no teams, no trades, etc.

Our goal was to create a true fantasy football type of game for MMA. But now we need help taking it to the broader level. We're not trying to sell the game to, or collect fees from beta testers. We just need your collective user input to see how you like it.

How much time does it take every week?

Not sure if you've played any other fantasy sports, but it's basically as much or as little time as you care to commit. If you simply want to manage your roster before each fight card, it can be as little as 5-10 minutes before each event. However, if you really get into it and start learning and researching about the fighters and matchups, it can be a lot more. All comes down to your personal preference and style.

I will say though, that if does become more time rather than less, it's going to be because you enjoy the process and are competitive about trying to win. The league is free, so no pressure to do anything. Just as much as you enjoy as a hobby.

One thing I can guarantee, is that if you do get into the game, you will know more about MMA than you ever have before. This thing is like a supercharger for MMA fanship/enjoyment.

When does the league start ?

The TMMAC league online draft is set to take place next week on Tuesday night at 8:30p ET / 5:30p PT.

The league season begins on the first day of the month following the draft (in order to make the mental tracking of quarters easier), and runs for 12 months thereafter, split into four quarters, with the 4th quarter set as a playoff for 4 teams that advance.

Q1: Aug-Oct
Q2: Nov-Jan
Q3: Feb-Apr
Playoff: May-July

All official UFC events, except for non-finale matches of TUF are applicable. (Down the line when we release v2.0 of the website, we plan to give commissioners the option of including other MMA orgs in their respective private leagues.)

Nice, dude. Don't sweat; the reason why that language is in there is because your email address will be visible to the other members of your league on your MyTeam page. We don't have a direct messaging feature, so it gives other league members a way to communicate with you privately about trade offers, etc. We have no intention of sharing users' email addresses with outside parties.
