Growing up my dad had gotten a cable descrambler, that really helped b/c any HBO/Showtime or pay per view event I was watching, I remember even watching these "Latino Heat" cards as a kid that Bob Arum would put on pay per view when he couldn't find a network to buy the event. All the promoters these days suck, but Al Haymon is doing his best to ruin the sport. He's got a lot of top fighters & they rarely fight. Keith Thurman is probably the 2nd best welterweight & has a belt or two, hasn't fought in a year & doesn't have one scheduled. Gary Russell is a featherweight champ, probably the fastest hands in boxing & only loss is to Lomachenko, he's defended his belt twice in 3 years against guys who didn't have a chance. There's a long list of fighters like that these days, there's maybe a few fights a year I even get excited about in boxing.
Thurman is back in May
Said it this past after the Garcia win

Him and porter had a talk together with reporters and Thurman basically said he wants a tune up fight before dealing with porter again
It's going to be thurman/Garcia 2 in May

Edit: I'm not saying I disagree with you at all, just letting you know some info from last weekend

Do you watch any of the fights?
You are also forgetting fights like 2 weekends ago eubanks/groves which was close to 50/50 until the final two days where the fighter who LOST became the favorite

I care about good fights, nice knockouts, slick boxing, Not the lines

Sure, there is the odd good fight every now and again but if a fighter is a 35 to 1 favorite, he is winning and there is no drama.

MMA the largest fav you will see is about 12 to 1

Boxing, every saturday, 90% of the big fights guys are 20 to 1 or more favorite, thats horseshit stuff right there.

When is the last time someone who was a 35 to 1 favorite lost? How often?

Its like college football, sure you get the college playoffs with great games, Alabama vs Georgia was awesome, but most weeks Alabama is playing some scrub school and winning 60-3 , and those games are boring as fuck to watch.

Its not fun watching guys fight overmatched guys

Usually when the odds are like that it's a highlight fight for one of the fighters
When it's like that I watch to see what that guy can do, one, because I love the beauty of boxing, defence and offence and two, So that I know what he can bring to future opponents that are more his level

I get boxing can be frustrating because it can take years for good matches to happen, and sometimes they never happen.
I do the same I do with mma now
Pay attention to smaller orgs so I can get invested on fighters on the comeup and the names seem to matter less

To be honest, I only have so much time in a day and already watch so much MMA, I only look to boxing for the big fights. Just don't hav etime for smaller orgs. And every week I check the boxing lines to see what I can throw in parlays and every week just about every fight has ridiculous odds like this.

Maybe 1 of 5 of the fights will be a somewhat tossup fight.

Alabama vs Georgia is awesome

Alabama vs Georgia Southern U, not fun at all to watch

In boxing there are too many Alabama vs Georgia Southern U matches

Now trust and believe if Porter and Thurman throw down, that shit I watch. Or when Andre Ward was fighting Kovalez, that's what I want.

Completely understandable
One of the benefits of being a cripple is I have too much time on my hands lol
I honestly don't even bet boxing much anymore, i did bet on Eubanks and lost that one though

bet the rent money on Thurman

edit: & Gary Russell may have a fight coming up, provided Joseph Diaz beats his next opponent before they face off, just checked boxing scene. I guess Haymon decides to make fights 1 week a year

Wow, thank God you are alive. 120 MPH is no joke. Was the fucker drinking or fucked up on something?

Much respect to you, I am sure its tough but you seem like a tough minded glass half ful guy.

I went to a rave at 19 years old, had my first car, an 82 Toyota Celica I bought at a car auction for 500 dollars. My folks said to not go, the rave was 1.5 hours away. I went anyways, and dropped e at the club. Thank God I was by myself coming back home. There was a draw bridge on the interstate, all the cars had to stop, once the bridge went back down tne cars started driving again. My car would not turn back on , I was stuck in the middle lane. I tried to get out the car to run to the left or right side, but the cars where now going like 80 mph and I was so fucked up I could not figure if I could make it or not. Saw I sat in the car, scared as fuck, waiting for a mometn where I could run to the side of the road.

A few minutes some huge flat bed 18 wheeler I can see heading towards me, my life literally flashed before my eyes and I thought for sure I am gonna die. The truck came within 15 or 20 feet of hitting me and swerved at the last second. But then I minute or 2 later, I see a hyundai coming at me, fast as fuck. She plowed into my car, my car spun around like what seemed like a long time. I was bouncing around in the car. I remember a pickup truck almost hit me as I spun. I blacked out, woke up and there where flares everywhere and some big guy was helping me out of the car. I told him I was okay, started to walk, blacked out again and he must have caught me in his arms.

Then I wake up at the hospital. My car became an accordian and the back speakers where literally pushed past the front chairs, the car was folded up in the back. It's beyond amazing I walked away from that. the lady was going 90 plus they said when she hit me.

Sorry to ramble on, but much props to you man.

That's crazy man, you are beyond lucky
Mine was 120km/h so only 75-80mph (still pretty fucking fast lol)

Thanks man, I'm glad you're good, that would have been scary as fuck

I've driven home on e coming home from raves when I was younger and I couldn't imagine that situation
Your mind would be all over the fucking place

Yeah, I was having a great roll until that lol. That was the only time I even tried driving like that. Every other time I did that shit was not driving. Man that was a crazy night, actually it was 6 am the next morning. It's incredible I made it out with only a concussion given what my car looked like. I still think about it to this day lol.

fight of the year candidate tonight, Wangek vs. Estrada, will probably be 1000 punches thrown. want to pick Estrada, but he's been in some wars. Wangek is the guy who ko'd Chocolito twice when he moved up a weight class too far

I was never really a member of a forum before coming here, I'm surprised there isn't more crossover. I had always figured most MMA fans grew up as boxing fans & just added MMA into the sports they love to watch like I did. I think I was wrong on that assumption
I use to fucking love boxing, I thought Evander Holyfield was the second coming of Jesus. Then I saw this dude named Royce expose boxing and I never looked at it the same way.

GGG clearly won the fight but the judges were paid off so it was scored a split draw.

One judge scored it a draw, one gave it to Canelo (lol) 115-113, and the one whose price tag was apparently too high scored it 118-110 for GGG.

Rematches are huge in combat sports. That shit was rigged from the beginning.
Yes

I now recall I went on a rampage after that one.....BECAUSE VEGAS STOLE ALL BETS EXCEPT SPLIT DECISION
BASICALLY 90% of bettors lost
It was fixed for exactly that....biggest fight in years and bet action will be huge.....cue/fix rip/off robbery

FYI I did not bet that fight but I call a spade a spade
