agreed, those spotters wouldn't have done shit besides getting hurtNot sure when that was, Larry is always trying new shit, but is unquestionably one of the strongest guys in the world.
Although, I don't get going that heavy out in the open with that type of squat rack. Seems like a recipe for disaster if something goes wrong
And if he does, he'll make modern day Ronnie Coleman look vibrant.I feel like Larry isn't going to make it to his 50s...
The amount of stress he's put on his body with crazy powerlifting and bodybuilding cycles is insane.
Agreed with all of that, but why not in a cage or with the straps hanging that catch the weight if dumped?Once you're going *that* heavy, unless you have five EXTREMELY burly dudes as spotters (one behind you and two on each side), they're not gonna be able to do much for you. And even then, they're typically best employed in powerlifting style scenarios where the guy Squatting is suited up to the point that he can't move / walk / be very nimble on his own. If he was, he'd just dump the bar off his back and let it drop.
Under maybe 400-500lbs, a spotter (provided they're big / strong enough, know what they're doing, etc) can be helpful on Squat.
Over that - and certainly this heavy - unless, as I said above, a lifter is prohibited by his gear, he's gonna be best off just dumping the bar.
Indeed. Coleman is like a living "cautionary tale"And if he does, he'll make modern day Ronnie Coleman look vibrant.
That's a damn clean 2 reps. I have a couple pics of his/Kabuki equipment. Good stuff
