Politicians, police, judiciary people in power bang people they have authority over all the time. You would think this is a mental or personality flaw in just a few but it happens all too often to be just a few bad apples. People who seek positions of authority probably tend to have more personalities where they think they're above rules and are less afraid to take chances that could jeopardize everything in the moment. It's like poker players who can gamble thousands of dollars on a game of cards while most people wouldn't dare have the nuts to do that. Some people are not afraid of living high stakes and throw their life away to bang someone theyre not supposed to.
Yeah. Those are all positions that ime tend to attract power tripping people. However I hold teachers and physicians to a higher standard.

Correct, but some people should be held to a higher standard. For instance, there is a admin/mod here (I don't want to name names) that is very persistent that I join him in a threesome with him and a life size cutout of Gabi Garcia. He keeps promising that if I do it, I will never be pinked. It is not against the law but because of the power he wields it does not feel right. I have declined his very persistent advances so if I ever get pinked, you all know why.

You can hold a higher standard but the reality is their position gives them the edge that they should be believed over their victims so they're actually held at a lower standard and unless accusers have very solid evidence, people who bring allegations against them are not believed until after multiple victims come forward with the same m.o. of abuse allegations but that could take many years like Larry Nassar.

This guy assaulted patients who were under anesthesia during surgery.

Dr. George Doodnaught sentenced to 10 years in prison for sex assaults on women during surgery | Toronto Star

This judge tried to coerce this girl to have sex with him in exchange for a favorable outcome in her case.

Ten years later, a disgraced judge loses his law license

Bringing people to justice isn't easy. For every one person who gets caught there is likely many more who will never be caught or punished. For people with high risk tolerance even low odds don't seem terrible. They think if there is any chance they can get away with something it's still a chance worth taking. People in positions of power are dangerous and holding them to a higher standard would require more scrutiny and suspicion but the opposite is actually true. There is such a desire to make people in power sound like they are automatically trust worthy because it would terrify society to think about crooked judges, police and doctors winning at life. That just doesn't agree with our ideology about karma.

With that said I still have my misgivings about criminalizing this behavior to a felony. She should be fired and gone. She should never be in a teaching position again. Should she be a sex offender? I'm not sure.
The age of consent in Connecticut is 16.

I am honestly surprised how many people are just taking this as ok..... Yes, in a non school setting, an 18 year old and 22 year old wouldn't be an issue, however as stated, in that particular instance, it is highly wrong. As an adult, looking at a (even if they are 18) child in school and thinking... "yeah it's cool for me to fuck them"... That is criminal. The excuse of "well you can't help what you like or love" is the reasoning that pedophiles and rapist use. As a fucking adult, looking at a kid and wanting to fuck them, ESPECIALLY if you're in a position of power is disgusting and deserves criminal punishment.

At work and I did not read the article, but why is she being charged? She is 22, he is 18. They are both of legal age. I can see her getting fired for fucking or blowing a student, I get that. But why is she being charged, under the law an 18 year old is legal. What am I not getting?

I can see why she would be fired, she is not guiltless but 18 is of legal age by the law, so how can she be charged with an illegal act?

This dude's probably banging 20-22 year old chics out at parties on the weekends anyway. Besides her being a "teacher", I dont see what the problem is here. LOL at the "concerned parent" calling in about it.

It's the reasoning everyone uses to do stupid/illegal/immoral shit.

Just being clear, I'm not saying by any means it's right, I'm saying it's bound to happen because people think in a way of risk versus reward. Most crimes go unpunished and some people just crave the thrill of doing immoral shit. The only reason more 22 year old teachers aren't banging students is that there's only a set number of teachers and then from that set number of teachers only a set number of them are willing to have relationships with 18 year olds with no job who still live with their mom and dad.

In a large perspective, if every adult on the planet was a 22 year old teacher, banging 18 year old students would be so common they would probably change the rules to make that normal. Alot, I stress alot of people would risk (they are adult 18 so no pedo charges/stigma and not even a teacher yet, so at worst can still change over to other career pursuits virtually unscathed) are not that high and life altering. There are people who do much much worse on a daily basis who either never get caught or get a slap on the wrist.

What she probably Wasn't anticipating though, was the national attention and that in the social media age this will follow her everywhere. However she's not a pedo so I'm not sure this will follow her like it did Mary K Lateurno who was in the prime of her career, much older than the student, married with children and the student was a minor.

This student teacher will probably still be able to obtain teaching certification and teach in another country with no problems. So when risk ~ is not really high enough to ruin lives then people will go for it. Sex and love are huge motivations that make people do all kinds of crazy things. Even with high stakes they go for it. This was relatively on the tamer side of scandal. In essence the only law broken was school policy.

I'm done with this one, I truly can't believe how many people are ok with this...... again, 18 year old out of school fucking a 22 year old... Hell, fucking a 50 year old, I DON'T CARE...... The caveat is that he was STILL A STUDENT and SHE MET HIM WHILE SHE WAS TEACHING... THIS fact makes it dead fucking wrong you Jared Fogle Motherfuckers.

She likely did not know about Connecticut's unusual law. In most states age has a factor. Only N. Connecticut has this law that applies even when the student is 18 or older.

I think given totality of the circumstance she will get an easy slap. Given their close ages and the boy being 18 and their relationship concensual and that he doesn't want to press charges and that she was still a student herself and not a full teacher. She will probably still be able to teach in Canada or Europe as long as she doesn't get on a sex offender list I think she will be ok.

Policemen bang women they meet on duty and they get disciplined with dock pay.

This wasn't a universal law, it's strictly in N. Connecticut only. Had this happen in another state it would be totally legsl just likely against school policy and she would be fired but that's it.

Do you just type without thinking?

You just make things up and thus I can't trust the foundation of anything you post afterwards.

Texas has the same law.

Well I read up on this law and they mention nothing about Texas. I see the notation this applies in North East only. Sorry but still N. Connecticuit is the only place with this law in the whole North East of United States. My point was just that absolutely no teacher student relationships are not universal laws in all states. In the NE it's just Northern Connecticuit.
