To be honest I'm kind of surprised this question would be asked by someone that does an MMA show and lives in one of the most Catch Wrestling history rich places in the world.
That's kind of my point.
It's not necessarily my thing but I'd watch catch wrestling or whatever but not if it's scripted.
It seems to me similar to watching the Super Bowl but knowing what the exact score is before they play - and then getting annoyed about the outcome.

As state above it actually dictates the performers income, so yes, it does matter even in a sense beyond a fan's personal enjoyment.
But its still only what was written by others. The decisions were already made based on other things, right?

In all seriousness, without looking it up could you name the #2 Pro Wrestling promotion?
No, but unlike MMA, where you need additional skills to transition, acting + stunts is actually something you can make a good career off in other parts of show-business, if you are actually good. Which is a fundamental difference to most sports.

Really? You know the outcome of a WWE match before you watch it? Maybe you can PM me your picks next time so I can make a wager. For someone that doesnt watch you sure know alot about what goes on.

It's a stage show. And the entire point of the show is suspension of disbelief. Be careful asking any questions beyond that.

I fear your missing the point. The history of Pro Wrestling and Catch are one in the same. They're also significant chapters in the history of MMA as a whole.

As for the predetermined part there are only a handful of people that know the outcome of match before it happens. Often that number is as low as 3 (including the 2 performers)

I watch it every once in a while but what I enjoy about it now is knowing the backstage politics and how it plays out on screen.

Like people said before in a world of comic books, super heroes, dragons and cuckold fetishes... the fact that someone's a huge mark for wrestling is the least of my concerns.

PS if there was no professional wrestling there would be no MMA period so show some hespect....Porra.

Here's a real cage fight, no rules. Notice he holds on to the cage...

Accurate post.

I agree... see how the wrestling boot stops them from using their toes for leverage.

Correct, and not always on merit, or even fan popularity. Which, as I said before, is why people get bent out of shape when recognition is given to someone they feel isn't deserving.

That's not a very accurate statement and to be honest completely marginalizes the amount of time and effort a Pro Wrestler puts into their craft. It also ignores the influx of retired MMA fighters we're seeing in movies, but that's a conversation for another thread.

I don't think so, its actually a positive thing to say that they could easily transition because they have the necessary skill-and mindset.

So you're now stating that people shouldn't get emotionally involved and voice their displeasure at someone not being fairly recognized because that person can just find another job? I'm honestly finding this rabbit hole you're traveling down fascinating.

You are generalizing. And I never said you shouldn't, I just find it weird in this case, that's all.

It's customers voicing displeasure about a product. It's no different from people saying they don't agree with fighter A getting a title shot when fighter B is much more deserving. I really don't see what there is to find weird about people having an opinion on something that ultimately doesn't effect them at the end of the day. If we're being honest that's the entire purpose of this forum.

There we are full circle. :)
You don't need to defend since I didn't intend to attack. Its not comparable to a sport to me, and that's that. You have the right to like it and be invested in it as far as you want, and I have the right to find it weird.
I'm sure you are finding some other's people passions weird too, like bronies.

Maybe you understand the word weird too negatively.

I didn't take it to mean anything negatively. I was simply pointing out that the circumstances are the same as anything else. If you had said you thought watching Pro Wrestling was weird I'd agree with you. It was that you said you thought being invested in the outcomes was what was weird about it.
