Conor got a title shot at lightweight by winning zero fights at 155 in the UFC (i.e. unranked), and without ever defending his featherweight belt. Break that down for us genius, if it's all about rankings and earning title shots.
Hey genius. Who gives a fook? He was the FW champion and moved up for a "superfight."

not that that matters. We were talking about Nate being deserving / undeserving in comparison to other fighters like khabib or tony (who are actually trying to fight and not wait around for a Conor fight). But you just can't seem To admit that he doesn't deserve this fight as much as the other top contenders, which is literally all I'm saying.

Here's the thing that makes me laugh.... I'm trying to be non biased here.... The UFC has a HISTORY of disregarding it's own rankings to put on what they consider "super fights" for their own financial interests, yet you are all sitting here debating if Nate is "worthy" of fighting Conor.

The UFC put together a Ferguson v Lee interim title fight, let's say Lee gets the win, you guys all think THAT is the big fight?

Nate decisively beat Conor, Conor ARGUABLY won against Nate, the fans (and I feel Conor himself want a chance) want another decisive victory in this trilogy.

The issue is how the UFC promotes fighters and matches, the BIG fight is the end of the trilogy, but the correct fight is Conor defending the title.... So the UFC has to decide what's more important, earning a ton of cash, or legitimizing their titles.

Tony Ferguson and Khabib both appeal to your UFC fans who even casually follow the sport.

However, with a Conor McGregor PPV, you're looking at a larger audience beyond that. Lots of people who don't really follow the UFC know who Conor McGregor is, and will pay to see him, whether they want him to win or lose.

Between Ferguson, Khabib, and Nate, none of them are bad options, but Nate Diaz is clearly head and shoulders above the rest. He has a win over McGregor. He followed that up with an epic barnburner of a fight where he lost a majority decision. Now that Ronda Rousey is gone, McGregor is the one active UFC fighter who attracts non-UFC fans, but you'll get even more of them if it's McGregor in an interesting fight, so they need to maximize that. Nate is the most interesting opponent because this is the trilogy fight. Nate Diaz is also a perfect foil for McGregor's trash talk because he simply doesn't give a fuck.

This is the biggest fight the UFC can make right now, and so I do think Diaz could probably get $5 million or more out of this even without a belt and with a bunch of losses on his record.

Let's remove "Deserving" from all further discussions because the UFC doesn't operate that way.

Let's give everyone the fight everyone wants to see......................

With the way the first 2 fights performed, I'm not sure they can justify NOT giving him the type of money he is talking as, this would definitely put perform both of those

-1. I want to see Khabib fight for the title. The fair one would be Ferguson, but since he is fighting in November, I think it should be Khabib.

Unfortunately Mr Perez has never made me feel he has sound business sense or any idea what he is actually asking for. He looks tough as fucking nails however, so if he was here I would give him whatever he asked for.

Every opponent Conor fights will do big numbers(because of Conor) so I guess every opponent Conor fights should ask for 20million

Iirc Conor's 2 biggest UFC PPV draws were both Diaz fights. Conor will draw every time but but not every opponent will help like Diaz did.
