what is with the lone red lace mixed in with all the black laces?

2015 Honda CRV (the plates do say "assman" though). Never had an issue with it, then about a month ago in the Home Depot parking lot it just wouldn't turn over. Press the ignition, lights flicker, no start. Got a jump from someone and it started fine. No problem until today, the same thing happened and the jump didn't turn the engine over. No idea what that means, but I assume worse than just a dead battery.
