Disagree. A clean KO is just a way to lose a fight. It doesn't mean anything more than a submission, a ref stoppage or a decision. It just means you did something wrong and your opponent did something right. There's nothing especially magical about knocking someone out or getting knocked out despite the sense of definitiveness it has in fan eyes.

In my view, any champion who has defended their belt at least twice deserves an immediate rematch clause in their contract. The fact that Cody didn't is the real reason he doesn't deserve an immediate rematch.
I know we've discussed this before and disagree but I've never seen you suggest an immediate rematch cluase before. Imo that's a horrible idea. How would you justify a rematch due to a three fight win streak?

Also the method of victory is important. A finish of any kind is usually unquestionable where as a UD can get messy like we just saw with Yoel vs Robert. Draws, SD or some sort of fuckery can merit a rematch though. If a champ gets finished they need a contender fight next.

Is there definitive proof he can make 125?
Doesn’t matter, he agreed to it.....Mighty Mouse wanted him to take some fights at that weight first......sorry, he didn’t want a fight that would actually be interesting at his weight.......

I sort of agree, but twice is way too low. 5+ successful defenses imo warrants an immediate rematch, regardless of how they lost.

It's just because the UFC rankings are completely arbitrary and there's a real material aspect to being the champ in monetary terms so I believe rematch clauses should be part of that compensation. Also from a fan pov, I love rematches. I enjoy watching the adjustments.

I also enjoy a good rematch but usually if there's a fight or two between the anticipation can make the worst worth it.

I have been so heated about this. Anyone, ANYONE, who is clean KO’d, no matter how long they have been champ (Anderson, Joanna, etc) should have to earn their ay back to a title shot. Split decision, sure. Close decision, maybe. But KO/TKO.. no f’ing way! There are too many fighters in any given division who have worked for years to be next in line. They deserve their shot and dethroned champs should earn their way back up. Cody has zero justification for a title shot. Assuncao,Cruz, and Rivera (prior to last week) all deserved it over Cody “da boyyzzzz” Garbrandt.
Not only that but it's a career ender if they lose the rematch. It's like their egos won't allow them to accept the loss and therefore are less likely to learn from it.
