lol I've done the clothesline before. Clothes definitely end up stiff as a board.

Besides - great in the summer...shit dries quick AF.

Leaves you kinda screwed in the winter, though. lol
Lol, we had a big folding wooden rack that we'd set up in front of the wall heater or floor grate heater thing that would burn your foot if you stepped on it.
Got your clothes pretty stiff too.

Until 7th grade the only people I knew with a dryer were my grandparents. It was pretty much the norm in the older places in downtown Sacramento to only have a washer hookup and a clothes line.
In 7th grade we moved to the suburbs and the place came with one. I thought we'd finally made it to middle class, lol.
Saw my first microwave in 11th grade.

My gi was always nice and stiff because I always air dried it and preferably in the sun to kill all the cooties.

Look man, Toughskins were already like wearing sandpaper made out of cardboard. They didn't need to be any stiffer!!!
The fact that modern children will never have to experience this for themselves is criminal.

They'll also never had the strong legs some of us did...took a LOT of effort to continue to bend, fold, and just wear those damn things. lmao

Since we're speaking about laundry, does anyone find it hilarious how all the big brands like Tide claim their stuff is the best but have to come up with additional stuff for us to add to make their products super duper work like some booster liquids or those crystals?

We got our first dryer and microwave when I was young too. Maybe 6-7. I can still vaguely remember it. We were just poor though, most people had this shit by then.

My great grandpa was a runner for the Italian Mafia. Apparently he showed up once when my dad was young with a refrigerator which blew everyone away at the time. Never saw his grandpa again though.

I don't understand why everyone buys all these addons. I just buy the big Kirkland Signature brand jug of liquid detergent, don't use anything else. Costco ran out of the liquid detergent last time we went and we got the powdered version this time. I'm fine with the powdered version also not sure why we even switched to the liquid version.

I also rarely use bleach on clothes but I can see the need for bleach on white clothing. We don't get many white clothing so its hard to justify even separating the whites from the colors (modern detergents seem to handle color bleeding much more effectively than years past). I recently invested in a whole bunch of white towels (thanks Costco), so may be using bleach more often now.

Years ago I used fabric softener and the kids still use it here but I don't see a need for it. My son buys the liquid fabric softener, the dryer sheets, anti-allergy detergent. Uses all of them, no wonder he has to use anti-allergy detergent he's adding so much bullshit to the clothes.

I've been told putting a small amount of vinegar in your wash instead of fabric softener will have the same effect.

Not sure if it's true, though. I've seen stuff saying it does and stuff saying it doesn't do anything
Great now I'm the guy who smells like beans and pickles.

Bullshit, lol
Maybe it was the cheapest detergent available but I remember t-shirts and jeans being stiff as a board off the clothes line.
You've got to to time it just right. Work pants take forever in the dryer so I put them outside. Your clothes end up smelling like reebar, though.
