But Freeman > Rizzo.
I usually understand their small market moves, but they had a pretty damn good team. I think we had Suarez for 3 more years. Winker was an arbitration guy for 2 more years. Sonny we had through the 2023 season.
Barnhardt I was OK with because Stephenson is a young stud, but the rest of these moves feel like they gave up way too early.
We have Votto locked down through 2023 ($25m this year, $25m next year), with a club option for 2024 ($20m or $7m buyout). Maybe they are trying to time the younger guy's contracts (India, Stephenson) with Votto's retirement?
I don't know. Frustrating.
