KVR 28- I work at a Long Term Care facility and would like to give you some input. The Supra-pubic catheter procedure that your mother-in-law received earlier is a relatively low risk procedure that may appear to be more serious(because of typical abdominal bleeding). Kinda like facial cuts on fighters look alot more serious than they are. Not trying to minimize the situation, but wishing you and yours the best. Hope everything works out. God Bless. On another note, not a big fan of baked or refried beans. Love me some Fava beans and a nice chianti. Sorry, couldn't resist.

So an update from last night they started her on prep for a colonoscopy this morning, they think it is something low intestinal. From a layman's perspective that went through colonoscopy prep, if she is bleeding that much internally I don't want to think about the hell she went through last night.

Hopefully, she's got good care and family support. That means everything. Obviously you care and that means alot. P.S. yeah, Fava beans are disgusting.

So currently in for scope and EGD at the same time to try and figure out what is going on and where. They told my wife they think it is diverticulitis. Layman thoughts again, that would have to be a huge rupture to cause that much fluid replacement I would think.

They didn't have to give anymore fluids last night from what my wife said, so that is a good sign. Also I misread her text, they did not put in a vent last night. Wife did say her BP dropped lower and she was going into shock but they were able to pull her out with all the fluid replacement.

Should know more shortly.

She was probably bleeding out for days before your wife got there. Old ladies be like that. And they run pretty dehydrated normally.
That was a fuck ton of blood and plasma, basically her entire supply.
Glad to hear they are keeping her off the vent as long as possible, shows you're dealing with a forward thinking professional team.

My wife said that to me last night. If she wasn't there, the kids would would have been at daycare instead of her and mom watching them because they love to hang out with nana and Auntie RaRa and she probably would have died in the bathroom. I told her we would talk about this later.

She actually had gone to the walk in clinic 10 days ago because she wasn't feeling well. They said it was a stomach bug.

So initial assessment, a massive ulcer rupture, wife said it was about 3 times the size of a half dollar. Mom finally admitted to my wife she has been bleeding for over a week not just yesterday like she told her. Would explain all the volume replacement.

Sounds promising, my wife is waiting for the doctor to come in to get more info. They did remove some precancerous polyps and she does have diverticulitis.

Aw man. Thats such a parent thing to do. "I don't want you to worry" so they'll continue to suffer.

So they want to keep her for 72 hours to make sure the cauth and repair worked plus pump her full of antibiotics through IV which is the only way they can give them.

Mom is pissed, said she will check her self out. Doctor said you do know you almost died yesterday morning. She has a facetime with her great grandbabies shortly which hopefully will talk her off the ledge.

looks like it's not over, the fix they did yesterday ruptured overnight so she is currently back on blood products and being transported to another hospital.

Not uncommon bro. Now she's gonna see a team that does this all the time.
