there were a lot of factors at play that year which 'lowered the bar' for achieving a perfect season.

Not that Dolphins weren't a well-coached, talented team. But they weren't extraordinary, nor even particularly special outside of their circumstance

Let me put this in a German framework for you. Imagine if in the Bundeslinga there was a horrible soccer team who’s fan base consisted primarily of pedophiles and Juggalos. This team hasn’t been relevant in 30 years, but 50 years ago when it was an entirely different league and a different format they set a record that doesn’t even exist anymore. i have a friend from the New Jersey side of Philadelphia and he tells people he's from Philly.

mike trout is a phillies fan and I think eagles fan makes no sense to me why he is closer to PA teams instead of NJ/NY teams.

In all honesty the World Cup should just be a 3 team showdown between Germany, Italy and Brazil every 4 years.

Brazil, Italy and Germany are the only countries who with some rare exceptions are always favorites to win. Between the 3 of them they hold 13 of the 21 World Cups. Every now and then someone will fluke a win on them (I'm looking at you Spain and England) but realistically there are 3 soccer super powers and a bunch of enhancement talents who are there to make the World Cup seem like an actual world event.
