I really want to get this, but as a Brit.......
Flint is a city in Michigan which is a big Democratic state and also votes on Tuesday. News outlets will show that she supports them in their headlines, neglecting to mention that Bernie does the same. Because 70% of people here only read the headlines.

I meant I have no clue what flint is haha

I started loosely following the stories around the Sanders, Clinton and Trump campaigns, and they are so messed up.
Also as a Brit you get Bernie's brother over there. Larry Sanders. lol.

nate has a top notch ground game. he tapped conor with a ken shamrock hand on the top of the head rnc in 3 seconds flat.conor didnt even try to defend or escape he just tapped
I'm wondering if Conor gave up the neck as an out. Seemed like he wanted it to end since he didnt try to defend it at all.

I dunno, looks like he tried to get out but got flattened out and subbed.

he didn't fight the submission properly like I keep saying, but that could've just been down to the shots he took.
I am confident he knows how to defend a rear naked choke in BJJ practice but shit happens. Benson Henderson said he went the wrong way when Pettis submitted him, and he was only hurt by body shots not head shots. Benson is an excellent grappler too.

yeah that's certainly a possibility. He might have been rattled from the punches and not thinking at that point.

The thought of getting slapped around, flipped off, then lights turned out was too embarrassing, so his high fight iq made the quick adjustment setup the rnc with his panic wrastling.

With regards to the striking there is no way Conor could have won clean with Conor saying how hard Nate hit, and the smile Conor gave when he realized what kind of pop Nate had on those punches.

To me it was at that point Conor's mind went "Oh shit, I really underestimated how hard this guy hits and how well he can take my shots..." and even though he kept landing the fight was already turning towards Nate mentally.

The adage that people don't react when shots don't hurt more than they wanted them to, when you laugh, shake your head or smile, they did hurt is true, over and over. The most important thing is the control to recover from that, that panic, I don't care if it's fighting, taking a test, taking a corner too fast in a car in a race, skiing, snowboarding off of a big air jump... etc that moment of panic where you are not entirely prepared for what came your way can either do you in, or embolden you further.

An example in fighting for that is none other than the Diaz Bros, and Rory McDonald vs Lawler among others too. Rory could have easily folded early in that fight taking much more heavy shots than he probably even though Robbie really had, he didn't, he took them till his nose completely caved in and the nerves therein became backwards and put him into shock.

I do think Conor is tough, but I also think that was the point where this plan of his hit the arrogance speed bump and it exceeded the level of damage he figured would be smart to take in this plan of his and, even if he didn't look damaged and Nate did (scar tissue matters and cuts and blood don't determine who is more damaged), and his mind began to race with dread he had to fight off.

two words

Max Holloway

two more words

Ronda Rousey
Except Ronda actually has victories by one punch KO as well as submissions. I guess you can say she got exposed as not having the elite boxing skills of a champion boxer but that's not really being exposed since that was expected.

Conor and Holly, on the hand, never really had to deal with fighting on the ground. They were protected by Dana and fed opponents that matched their style of fighting. We saw a glimpse of Conor's weakness against Mendes. Holly's should have been tested against Ronda but Ronda chose to stand with her.

another funny point is that fans shit all over Ronda for not coming back and fighting Holm immediately, or potentially ducking her either by retiring from the sport or fighting Tate for the title instead (and then possibly retiring) but nobody batted an eyelid when Holm said she was fine with whoever the UFC offered her and would fight her way back into contention.

clearly she is ducking the woman who CHOKED HER TO F@#$ING SLEEP IN FRONT OF MILLIONS.
Not to mention Holm said she wanted a long break after this fight. What's up with that?! It appears Holm has been shook and I'm not sure if she ever comes back. I think her long break is going to turn into a permanent one.

I think he had no way out of getting from mount, ate 4 clean shots, and had to turn to not take more damage. Even with the loss he still has a good chance for UFC 200...without getting battered...turning the back was a good move...I'd like to have seen him fight the choke a bit more, but hey...Diaz gave no chance, he put the squeeze on and it was pretty much over when Conor shot in.

my point was Conor did not avoid the ground against Holloway, and Holm also took Ronda down.

I see people on here and on other social media saying McGregor and Holm got exposed.

Let's get real, we already knew before last night's fights that both weren't the best grapplers, right? So we didn't need to see them actually lose by RNC last night to know this, we've all followed MMA for years and we know how styles make fights. So how did they get exposed again?

Did anyone on this forum really look at Conor like he was the most unstoppable, most skilled fighter we've ever seen before? No. We knew his boxing and trash-talking game were top-notch. But with the exception to Mendes who also took a short notice fight, all of McGregor's victories occurred exclusively in the stand-up. Neither Holly or Conor really proved themselves as grapplers and from what we've seen and read, it's safe to say neither is winning an ADCC, EBI or Olympic wrestling gold medal anytime soon.

Professional fighters on here, correct me if I'm wrong, but MMA is a three pronged sport: stand-up, ground and what I call the transition arts (freestyle wrestling, judo, Greco Roman, etc.), the arts where you don't really finish the fight so much as you transition from stand-up to ground and vice versa, basically controlling where the fight is fought. All three are needed at any given time in this sport, all three can be used strategically to throw someone off their game and hardcore MMA fans get this.

I was just surprised to see so many people on here - the hardest of the hardcore MMA forums ;) - act like these guys were exposed for the first time, like we haven't already seen this movie before.
Good posting, FTB.

Holly got hit with left and was dazed. Holm instinctively went for the clinch because she was hurt. Yea she took her down but it wasn't planned. It sorta just happened.
