He told us how when he was stationed in the Phillipines, they'd always be beating into the heads of guys who were there for the first time to not marry the first whore they came across
There is a whole block of instruction during basic of the STD's you can catch during shore leave.

What's everyone getting into this weekend, besides another dude like BWS?

My mom and I are going to make a solo trip out the property for my old man's "birthday" Do you still have birthday after you are dead? Guess I'll have to die to find out 🤣🤣🤣

Sooo I'm currently rounding up all the gun shit I wanna take. I need to do some general PMC, fuck around with some zeros/gather data. And swap out RMR batteries.

The RMR on the PDP finally died lol. I think I last changed it 26 months ago? Maybe longer honestly. It's been a hot min.

Need to do some scouting, and go place another salt lick, grab a truck load of apples from one of the orchards otw out there.

Gotta check and possibly move around some of the game cams, and check in with the neighbors about what the herds and patterns are looking like.

I always try and keep an eye out for Moose and what they are up to as it gets closer to the season, incase I finally get thet fucking lottery tag. Been waiting 20 fucking years for a moose tag.

I think the average is 26 or more, but I know Washington hunters that have put in every year for 30-40 years and still havent drawn one.

Currently printing up a bunch of B8s, and upper A zones Three day pistol/carbine class coming up in early October at the homies private range.

I've been trying to conserve ammo recently, and do mostly dry fire.
I still definitely need to put some good work in while I have access to 0-900 yards in my back yard, and can move around and shoot as much as I want to. Didn't get to smack steel 1k yards with the 16inch AR like I wanted to the last couple trips.

So I think I'm gunna bust out the spotting scope and the baofengs and have my mom spot for me 😂😂😂

I'll probably set up a couple of stages. Thinking I might shoot a few mock USPSA qualifiers.

I've set the goal of getting qualed in carry optics at minimum "soon" .So that means I need to run four official qualifiers. I wanna try for M class by the end of 2025. Going off some of the stats and numbers in Ben Stoegers books, It shouldn't be too lofty of a goal lol if I can take it seriously lol.

I'm likley to be poorish again 2025 so I figure I can trade out the multiple classes a year, for shooting a bunch of local matches haha. Instead of the outlaw and steel challenge matches I do every now and then. I wanna be legit and shoot some USPSA shit.

Picked up some trade show work next week, otherwise I would stay out there until Wednesday or Thursday and bask in the enjoyment of "camping" with a big house with internet for as long as I can lol.

I always forget that the major conventions and trade shows, often use union labor for set up and break down. It's like 24 bucks under my normal wage, but it's still almost 40 an hour to do easy ass work. I can't complain. Plus it's usually a bunch of overtime, which I could really use.

And it should be fun to get behind the scenes of PAX West. Hopefully I end up some cool gaming swag hahaha. They usually hook it up conventions and trade shows for the labor and I better get some cool random video game shit lol.

Your weekend is a lot more exciting than mine. Lol.

Taking Waylors to swim lessons on Saturday morning.

Going to my stepmoms Saturday afternoon to help with some house work that she can't do herself.

Sunday morning I'm taking Waylon to see my grandma. She's 87 and has Alzheimers and breast cancer. She's refusing any treatment for the cancer. I try to see her once a week while I still can. We were always very close. It's awesome seeing how happy her and Waylon get when they see eachother too.

This will be my first full weekend off since April 27th.

I’m going to stop at the beer store and pick up a six pack of something better than Miller Lite. Then I’m going to get a start on the riddling up with the laundry and the like. Saturday, I’m going to get up, finish up the laundry, dust, wash windows and vacuum and shampoo the carpets.

When I have finished with that, I’m going to get everything still in boxes put away and the empty boxes put out in the dumpster.

Sunday is church early and then probably nothing after that.

Domestic bliss weekend. Sam‘s Club expedition, clean out dryer vent, grill out, and maybe get in a movie or two.

Maybe watch the FSU v. GT game. Thank God college football is back this weekend.

I'm picking up a new to me Marlin Model 60 (circa 1974) this evening, a Tasco scope should arrive via Ebay and I'll take some time this weekend to zero it. I've been getting into .22's. this year. Vintage rifles and competition handguns. I picked up a Beretta Neos and a Tx22 Competition with lots of Tandemkross add ons, a 1980's 10/22 with a wood stock and old school scope and after this evening two Model 60's. I was shooting steel at 200 yards with the 10/22 and the (circa 2000) Model 60 is shooting sub MOA at 50 yards.

I may try my hand at shooting clays on Saturday morning. I went and watched the 5 Stand guys doing their thing this past Tuesday and it looked fun.

Non gun related I have a funeral on Saturday for one of the patriarchs of our church who passed at the age of 95 in July. More church Sunday morning and then a fundraiser Sunday night where there will be ice cream. Should be a nice weekend.

I bought a Tikka .308 rifle and vortex scope a couple years ago with the idea of tip toeing into some longer range shooting. I never got around to sighting the damn thing in until yesterday and I had a blast. One thing is like to run by some of the more experienced here is, should I invest in a bipod? The range I go to has some wood props with cloth on top to rest the gun and it is very helpful. Would a bipod be even better for stability?

Bottom target was getting the scope sighted in at 108 yds. Top was after some adjustments. Not claiming to be anything special and it was my first time at anything over 50yds. But still happy with results and have some work to do.

Stayed up till 2 working on my car last night and should be able to get it out this weekend a bit so that will be fun. Will also probably smoke some ribs or something this weekend. May try to have a fire and open a bottle of something good.

Wife is flying back home this Saturday, have a deposition scheduled for Monday for a case from 4 years ago. Going to go over my report Sunday morning and then go send some lead down range at the cabin to clear my mind.

Boring weekend.

Taking dog to the vet and going to watch the White Sox in their march to the worst record in the modern MLB era.

If you don't want to mount a bipod, you can get something like these. I believe I picked mine up from Walmart. I like them well enough.

This X2. A good front and rear bag are a excellent tool for building a firing position.

I like bipods too, and they are very versatile if you have a quality one, or even a couple of them in diffrent lengths for diffrent uses. But a couple good shooting bags absolutely come in clutch.

I'm super fond of Armageddon Gear game changer bags. In a schmedium size with a medium fill particularly. But they can definitely be considered pricy, especially if you want a few of them for different purposes lol.

15 yard B8? I only recently started incorporating 25 yard B8's into my range session. I'm still a work in progress and on a good day I'll keep it all in the black but most of the time I'm all over, including some fliers. That being said, when I first started I was lucky to even hit the target.

Listening to James McMurtry. Some of the best gun related lyrics ever written:

Bob and Mae come up from
Some little town way down by
Lake Texoma, where he coaches football
They were two-A champions for two years running
But he says they won't be this year
No, they won't be this year
And he stopped off in Tushka at the pop knife and gun place
Bought a SKS rifle and a couple full cases of that steel core ammo
With the Berdan primers from some East bloc nation
That no longer needs 'em
And a Desert Eagle, that's one great big old pistol
I mean, fifty caliber made by bad-ass Hebrews
And some surplus tracers for that old BAR
Of Slaton's as soon as it gets dark, we're gonna have us a time

B8s at 25 and beyond have improved my game a lot overall. What has really improved has been my shot calling and my ability to apply it to my dry fire.

Have you started shooting speed bulls yet? That's some humbling shit. Seeing dudes get good scores at 4.21, 4.35 etc is always wild to see. I sure as fuck ain't there yet lol.

No Fail at 25 is one of my favorite drills, shot cold like its supposed to be. The par time seems generous but considering you can only blow it once, you definitely have to be on your game to get a decent score and clear the par time, at least 9 times.

No speed bulls. Recently I haven't been able to shoot in the open bay where I can use my shot timer so I have to guesstimate my times. Sometimes I take my time and shoot but most of the times I'm probably around 8 seconds on ave. if I do 10 shots. I fluctuate between 5 - 10 shots when doing B8's. No particular reason other than; sometimes I don't feel like doing it so I shoot 5 rounds 1 - 2 times just to force myself to do it that session.

I started singing the song as soon as I saw James McMurty.

This verse always cracks me up.

Ruth-Anne and Lynn, they wear them cut-off britches
And then skinny little halters and they're second cousins to me
Man, I dont care, I want to get between them
With a great big 'ol hard-on
Like an ol' Bodark fencepost
That you can hang a pipe rail gate from
Do some sister twisters till the cows come home
And we'll be having us a time
