Have only played with it a bit so far, but I’m fairly impressed with it. It scores very accurately, as you can see your strike on the target and it calls it out to you at the same time. I’ve already found some flaws in my technique with my SIG P938 that are less apparent with the full-size 1911 Kimber, presumably due to size and weight differences. But I’m also recovering from a shoulder injury so I’m not quite as steady as I would normally be. So far I’ve only done the free scoring and haven’t run any drills.
Biggest issue is no rapid fire, since no blowback. You have to thumbcock every shot with an external hammer or rack the slide with a striker fired weapon. My wife’s bedside gun is a Canik and her EDC is a Kimber R7 Mako, so she has to rack every round. However, this is endemic to any semi-auto dry fire drill, so it is what it is. It would definitely be more “fun” if your training weapon is a double-action revolver loaded with 5 -6 of the laser cartridges. But that’s probably not a totally bad thing either, since it keeps you from getting ahead of yourself on improving technique. Use this to develop proper aim and grip, then find out at the range if it falls to shit on you with follow-up shots.
