I see people on here and on other social media saying McGregor and Holm got exposed.

Let's get real, we already knew before last night's fights that both weren't the best grapplers, right? So we didn't need to see them actually lose by RNC last night to know this, we've all followed MMA for years and we know how styles make fights. So how did they get exposed again?

Did anyone on this forum really look at Conor like he was the most unstoppable, most skilled fighter we've ever seen before? No. We knew his boxing and trash-talking game were top-notch. But with the exception to Mendes who also took a short notice fight, all of McGregor's victories occurred exclusively in the stand-up. Neither Holly or Conor really proved themselves as grapplers and from what we've seen and read, it's safe to say neither is winning an ADCC, EBI or Olympic wrestling gold medal anytime soon.

Professional fighters on here, correct me if I'm wrong, but MMA is a three pronged sport: stand-up, ground and what I call the transition arts (freestyle wrestling, judo, Greco Roman, etc.), the arts where you don't really finish the fight so much as you transition from stand-up to ground and vice versa, basically controlling where the fight is fought. All three are needed at any given time in this sport, all three can be used strategically to throw someone off their game and hardcore MMA fans get this.

I was just surprised to see so many people on here - the hardest of the hardcore MMA forums ;) - act like these guys were exposed for the first time, like we haven't already seen this movie before.

If it came as news to you that Nate could do this to McGregor, you need to get of the hype train and I´ll say that You are the ones that got exposed.

I bet Conor and I was surprised by some things in the fight for sure, but I knew Nate could do this under the right circumstances. Hats of to him and I am happy to see him get paid/win. Conors fight IQ was not very good last night I think, but he is still my boy and he will be back stronger at a lower weight. He has a lot of holes to fix, but is still one of the most brilliant martial artists of our time. The way he handles this loss says a lot about him.

Holly will be back stronger as well.

I think a loss for Miesha and Nate would have been worse for them, so from that side of things I am really happy with the outcomes.

Good fights, glad to see them :)

No point in saying Conor was exposed in a loss last night. He was exposed in victory against Chad Mendes :p

Full-camp Mendes tunes that goofy leprechaun up 9/10.

Truth. Character has a way of revealing itself in the most trying circumstances. Conor handled the loss with total class and dignity, which tells me he's a good person at heart and a smart guy. I look past a lot of the narcissism ("Gods recognize Gods") because I suspect it's just an act to get paid anyway.

Truth. We saw this coming. I didn't think it would happen last night, but eventually we knew it would.

The first 5 seconds of this video pretty much sums up what happened last night.

He got exposed as a panicked wrestler who tapped with a quickness

No fighter is perfect. Even the most well rounded fighters have things that they need to improve. Doesn't mean you get 'exposed'. That word means less than nothing in this context, and is usually spoken by people that don't understand fighting as well as they think they do.

You know, I thought about my earlier post and wanted to clarify something. Those that I was referring to in regard to not knowing much about fighting, that was not directed to anyone in this thread. Wanted to make sure y'all knew that.

I have seen at least one thread proclaiming this 'exposure'. I think it's a buzzword neophytes like to throw around.

it's a silly concept cause tons of fighters lose by submission but when it's Mcgregor .... EXPOSED!!! :)

We knew it already. He was on the mat with Mendes and looked like a girl in missionary position, just laying there taking it. Remember when Mendes dribbled Conor's head off the canvas with an elbow? Even Steph Curry would have appreciated that.

Y'all know this I'm sure. The percentage of fans in this sport who have been in an actual life or death hand to hand combat situation is very low, the one's who have been in an actual fight isn't much higher.

I guess teaching kids jiu-jitsu worked out better then playing touch butt in the park. Maybe Connor should take a lesson from 1 of Nates white belts. I'm sure they could teach better defense to the RNC. He mastered the tap though. ‪#‎Tap3Times‬

"touch butt" - LOL

One of my favorite things to say now. Watching Nate talk about Conor playing touch butt in a public park with some dude wearing a pony tail was among the more underrated trash talking moments of 196.

no one would even care if he hadnt talked allll that shit .he 100% brought this on himself. if he was humble he would be getting treated like any other fighter who has lost a fight .he pumped himself up so much that people are happy to see him fall.the talk of being a 3 division champ was the equivalent of ronda saying she could beat cain under the right circumstances.
